I literally said; 'whoa'(woah?) when I saw the news. I was expecting this to be a similar case to Allison Theus's with her arm and the Extra Credits crew getting the call to action to get her arm all fixed, but this, holy shit.

Man had some skill for sure, remember being blown away by Haloid back in the day and whilst RWBY was mixed in places it was for all intents and purposes an independent anime production. He wasn't around for long but he did a lot in that time, a lot of people will miss him, most creators don't even get that much.

Hope the Rooster-teeth crew can carry on with RVB and RWBY without him, somebodies some big shoes to fill.

I had a feeling he wouldn't make it. I just knew. Shame. Sorry to see the man go, he really spiced up Red vs Blue with action sequences.

Saw this on another site thought people here might like to see it as well. Apparently from one of his old Deviantart journals, back from 2010.

"I continually hope that someday I'll get a chance to pass on everything I've learned. There hardly seems a moment considering living by my words only means having absolutely no time to say them. So at least I can take a moment in slight to utter in passing.

Never let anyone tell you that something is impossible.

I lived by that when it sparked in me the possiblity of achieving something despite everyone telling me it being impossible otherwise. People have always told me it's impossible, that it's been tried. If you know what I'm talking about then your already on your way. What I will say to you ignore those who've been defeated by what they call "experience." Keep going and don't let anyoen tell you otherwise.

I know this might sound familiar even, never give up etc. But it's how I live my life even currently as there still are more "experienced" people who will criticize that I'm doing it wrong. It's the human spirit that'll keep us alive. This rings true to the events of my life, when I started Haloid. I didn't do it because I wanted to get a job in games, or that I wanted to become famous, or what have you. I did it because I knew it could be done, and that the road to finishing it was imperfect and difficult. What finishing it yeilded me was only more steps on the path to pushing forward in what I believed in.

My life lacks much, I'm broke, my car is in horrible shape, my apartment is a mess, I spend 3 days in a row at the office regularly and sleep on the couch only when I need to. I'm helplessly antisocial. I see my girlfriend 3 times a year.

I come from an impoverished family of cambodian civil war refugees. It been a long journey between being so incredibly poor that I didn't have paper to draw on when I was little, to where I am now. It wouldn't have happened if I didn't dive headfirst and take a risk, and continually risk it all to keep going forward... Heh, success? They thought it was impossible

What is the greatest reward for living in such difficulty?..

I hope you see it someday too, Cause the world looks very different, when you're pushing yourself every second you've got."

This really, REALLY sucks. I'll always remember him as the creator of one of my first favourite videos on the internet.

I do hope they continue RWBY though I'll understand if they don't.

RIP, Monty.

That ... that is quite sad.
Rest in piece Monty, you'll be remembered greatly.
My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, and the whole RT crew.

A damn shame.
When it comes to internet death, I haven't even got over the death of kitty0706, the creator of several populator G-Mod series. It really sucked, since he survived his cancer.

Anyway. I hope Rooster Teeth can stay strong in this time, and hopefully continue RWBY in one way.

Yeah, I'll try to watch, but it will be hard, I'm used to see these guys joke about all kinds of weird stuff, and a moment like this is just really, really sad. I just heard about it today, damn...

The why do they have a live event for it scheduled for YouTube?

I actually wrote a sendoff to Monty on my website today. If you'd all like to read it, it's right here: http://www.fishandcherries.com/?p=776

I've had a bad streak of luck when it comes to losing people in my life and that I looked up to, so this doesn't come as big of a surprise to me as I would have hoped. Still, I'm going to do my best to follow his example and put as much devotion and effort into my creative projects as he did. Rest well, Monty. Your legacy will never die.

Gah, the YouTube one was fine for me, refreshed, and now it's marked as private.

On RoosterTeeth.com though, they have it up on their main page for all, and they've said on Twitter that it's gonna be public:

When I first saw the announcement I didn't believe it at first. 33 is way too damn young. He will be missed very much by his family, friends, and fans. RWBY, if it continues and I think it will, simply not be the same without him. This man will always be one of my absolute favorite animators, and his work will always be incredible, I'm just sorry we won't get to see anymore of it.

I want to say something poignant right here but I honestly can't think of anything except that Monty wouldn't want us to grieve so much that we forget what he accomplished.

"I believe that the human spirit is indomitable. If you endeavor to achieve, it will happen given enough resolve. It may not be immediate, and often your greater dreams is something you will not achieve within your own lifetime. The effort you put forth to anything transcends yourself, for there is no futility even in death." -Monty Oum 1981-2015

Rest in Peace Monty.

All the RT and RWBY blogs I follow are filled with memorials from fans and Staff alike. I couldn't go back to sleep after hearing the news so I binge-watched RWBY on netflix.

I wish everyone mourning the very best.

I always liked his animation style. Deeply western in nature and choreography, but overblown in an almost anime way. I liked RvB a lot solely because of how visually unique and exciting his animations were.

What a shame we won't be seeing any more new content of it, especially after he had an original series that revolved a lot around his style.

The idea of being in critical condition, let alone dying, from a medical accident just terrifies me to know end.

RIP Monty.
