That doesn't run really, at least by many definitions. It's clearer if you watch the hip in the high-speed frames; it's level throughout the robots running cycle (that is in one direction). A 'true' run offsets the centre of gravity creating a sort of controlled fall forwards, whereas this robot stays in balance. It's hopping forward on alternating legs, not really running.

Nitpicking perhaps, but compared to how animals run it's quite different and much less efficient as well as less manoueverable.

Thats a scary sight, great technology, but wierd as.... i mean just look at the pure evil that robot was givin that girl... though she was bullying him...

still, its pretty strange to see an actual robot running... lets hope thats all we get them to do.. >.<

That's very impressive but I swear robots have been doing this for years?

like, a year or so ago I saw the Honda Asimo Robot doing exactly this.
But like I said, still impressive.

sorry guys but the Asimo has been able to have both feet of the floor at one time for almost 2 years (if not more) now. Yer sure its only for like 0.5 seconds... but its still running.

I can see this going one of two ways, depending on wether or not we develop advanced AI as well. If we do, see Skynet. If we don't, see Mechwarrior. I certainly hope for the second option :)

I WANT ONE!

erm... I mean that's the coolest thing I've seen in a while and it would be awesoem to have a little robot buddy do chore and stuff for me, and it could run to the store and back and all that cool stuff.

Now we just need the three robot laws and we're set XD

Didn't Boston Dynamics get a robot to balance itself and run? I mean it was quadrupedal, but if it's that much easier to make a 4 legged robot sturdy, what are the real benefits of a bipedal one? Only thing I can come up with is exoskeleton engineering, but nobody's started work on precision and agility ones yet.

Looks like the Big Dog ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-AGWq0k_Mo ) has some competition. Now just upscale it and slap some 105 mm cannons on that bad boy. I'd drive it.
that thing looks like it came straight out of MGS4
damn. ninja'd.
