ANYBOT wants to learn BUY SCONE, but it already knows 4 moves. Delete a move to make room for BUY SCONE? 1,2...and Poof! ANYBOT forgot VACUUM, and learned BUY SCONE!"
You'd be surprised how few people are willing to steal money from the disabledultrachicken said:Wait, the money was strapped to its head?
I'm surprised no-one stole it.I think a lockbox that's nailed to it should suffice.PhunkyPhazon said:I WANT ONE!!!
Then again, I should probably wait until they install sort of defense mechanism. After all, it's a defensless machine that rolls down the street carrying money and pastries. Not to mention it relies to much on we mere humans to open doors and such. But this is still awesome.
And your avatar makes my brain bleed.
It's a robot. But not an autonomous robot. There's a difference. A roomba is an autonomous robot because it can act without direct human control.dathwampeer said:It was just a remote control device wasn't it?
Wireless webcam controlled from home or something.
It wasn't actually a robot as far as I could tell.
Except that people outside would just see a robot with money on its head rather than a disabled person.Baneat said:You'd be surprised how few people are willing to steal money from the disabledultrachicken said:Wait, the money was strapped to its head?

Not to mention Angus other friend work at another coffee shop >.<Trivun said:I'll be counting down the days until this is either mentioned, or even parodied, in a Questionable Content strip. You know, the webcomic with tiny robots used as computers, and that's set partially in a coffee shop that employs about three quarters of the main cast...?
I think people were just too suprised to consider the option. But yes, that precise reason is why I don't expect this to be a common practice. It would be just too easy for someone to take the money without noticing it.ultrachicken said:Wait, the money was strapped to its head?

However, you use an example video of Super Robot Wars series, where the war is done by human vs human raiding giant mechs, I think you need better example, like those robots from I Robot.Tom Phoenix said:I think people were just too suprised to consider the option. As others have mentioned, this by itself isn't that impressive, considering it is more like a camera on wheels than a robot. Having said that, it is an indicator that we might have small robots doing menial tasks for us in the future.
Of course, it always starts that way and then they become gradually more advanced until they realise they are superior to us and decide to rebel against us. Considering humanities almost insane desire to create robots that are as close to humans as possible, that certainly seems like the way we are headed.
To be honest, I posted that video more to make a joke rather than make a point. But if you really want a better example, Aschen or Lamia are as about as "ridiculously human" as you can get:RollingThunder said:However, you use an example video of Super Robot Wars series, where the war is done by human vs human raiding giant mechs, I think you need better example, like those robots from I Robot.Tom Phoenix said:I think people were just too suprised to consider the option.
