These robots aren't the autonomous world-destroyers we'll hopefully never encounter
YOU may hope we never encounter. I for one welcome our new robot overlords.

I hate to be a killjoy but this isn't really a robot in the sence we all dream of, its just a remote control car with a camera and a speaker.

I always thought of robots as being, well, at least semi autonomous, otherwise you might as well just phone your order in and drive a remote control car to the takeaway.

Costs a lot less too.

Wait, the money was strapped to its head?

I'm surprised no-one stole it.

I WANT ONE!!!

Then again, I should probably wait until they install sort of defense mechanism. After all, it's a defensless machine that rolls down the street carrying money and pastries. Not to mention it relies to much on we mere humans to open doors and such. But this is still awesome.
I think a lockbox that's nailed to it should suffice.

And your avatar makes my brain bleed.
You'd be surprised how few people are willing to steal money from the disabled

It was just a remote control device wasn't it?

Wireless webcam controlled from home or something.

It wasn't actually a robot as far as I could tell.
It's a robot. But not an autonomous robot. There's a difference. A roomba is an autonomous robot because it can act without direct human control.

I'll be counting down the days until this is either mentioned, or even parodied, in a Questionable Content strip. You know, the webcomic with tiny robots used as computers, and that's set partially in a coffee shop that employs about three quarters of the main cast...?

Except that people outside would just see a robot with money on its head rather than a disabled person.

Although, I suppose it wasn't outside for very long, but still. If this is going to see widespread usage, they should resolve that problem.

Not to mention Angus other friend work at another coffee shop >.<

I wouldn't be afraid someone would steal the money from that robot in this town, i would be afraid someone would steal the complete thing.

Great vid though

I think people were just too suprised to consider the option. But yes, that precise reason is why I don't expect this to be a common practice. It would be just too easy for someone to take the money without noticing it.

As others have mentioned, this by itself isn't that impressive, considering it is more like a camera on wheels than a robot. Having said that, it is an indicator that we might have small robots doing menial tasks for us in the future.

Of course, it always starts that way and then they become gradually more advanced until they realise they are superior to us and decide to rebel against us. Considering humanities almost insane desire to create robots that are as close to humans as possible, that certainly seems like the way we are headed.

However, you use an example video of Super Robot Wars series, where the war is done by human vs human raiding giant mechs, I think you need better example, like those robots from I Robot.

To be honest, I posted that video more to make a joke rather than make a point. :p But if you really want a better example, Aschen or Lamia are as about as "ridiculously human" as you can get:
