I'm surprised no-one stole it.

I think people were just too suprised to consider the option. But yes, that precise reason is why I don't expect this to be a common practice. It would be just too easy for someone to take the money without noticing it.

As others have mentioned, this by itself isn't that impressive, considering it is more like a camera on wheels than a robot. Having said that, it is an indicator that we might have small robots doing menial tasks for us in the future.

Of course, it always starts that way and then they become gradually more advanced until they realise they are superior to us and decide to rebel against us. Considering humanities almost insane desire to create robots that are as close to humans as possible, that certainly seems like the way we are headed.

However, you use an example video of Super Robot Wars series, where the war is done by human vs human raiding giant mechs, I think you need better example, like those robots from I Robot.

To be honest, I posted that video more to make a joke rather than make a point. But if you really want a better example, Aschen or Lamia are as about as "ridiculously human" as you can get:

For male version I think Volfogg from GGG is an excellent robot, an excellent ninja robot that is.

It always starts out small. First, they play chess. Then, they collect scones from coffee shops. Finally they're running around with human-like exoskeletons made from metal and filling real humans full of plasma bolts.

At $30,000 it doesn't seem like I'll be getting one anytime soon, but the price will apparently go down to £5,000 as the company works on ways to reduce costs (probably for manufacture, labor and materials, I'm guessing).

I would love to get one of these, though.

According to the site they are 15,000....not 30,000.

Yeah, I only play classic SRW as well. To be honest, while I don't mind a bit of fan service, Endless Frontier just goes way too far for my taste. For that reason, I have no intentions of playing it. And while Aschen is alright, I still like Lamia better.
