This is what auto tune should be used for. It's to help those who can't sing have the ability to sing. Yes, I know there is a joke in there, but the famous singers who do use it actually have talent (well, the ability to hold a note anyways) and they certainly don't need a machine to pitch correct their voice.

In short, I don't play Rock Band, but I think the addition of auto tune will be welcomed by most.

Nah. I'won't have any friends left after this comes out, that's the only reason they hung out with me. On a more serious note: what's the fun in singing in rockband if it corrects you? I always tried to put a little more efford and beer in it when I didn't do a good job on a song, now what would be the challenge if they change that?

As a singer, I'd like to point out that this totally ruins my party factor of sounding a gret deal better than my friends. Now everyone, including me, sadly, are going to sound like Usher and every other male R'nB artist on the mainstream market.

players with the option to enable vocal effects commonly used in the music industry
I don't understand why anyone could be against this, since it's a choice it's really just adding a new option you choose whether to use or not.

Oh, right. That allows me to not sound like Usher, but it still robs me of my party factor. There is going to be less awe at parties with this one.

So we get to use what the "real" singers use?

Also, is it just me or does Rockband not have enough Metal?
Rockband has a ton of metal, but I agree with you. More metal is necessary.

And don't release one of Pantera's worst albums when you have Vulgar Display of Cowboys From Hell to choose from Harmonix. That's just stupid.

"Can we have less 'suck' coming through the microphone?"

Off-key singing is what karaoke is all about. Don't deny the people their basic pleasures!

All the things I hate about the music industry are now flooding into the music games I know and love.

That's what Guitar Hero is for [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/101788-Warriors-of-Rock-to-Recapture-Guitar-Heros-Soul].
I'm sorry that this has nothing to do with the thread, but the guitar in that article's picture is awesome.

OT: I have mixed feelings about this. It will either turn out pretty good, or go horribly wrong.

Interesting idea but generally useless I would think. The autotune vocals coming back out of the stereo are not going to be loud enough to make the actual bad singer disappear from the room.

Sounds like justin bieber will be right at home.

OT: This sounds cool but I have more fun laughing at myself and others when we 'try' to sing.

I'm actually pretty decent on vocals but my voice sounds horrible while doing it so I wouldn't mind thing making it sound better.

There is metal in Rock Band, just not any of the band that I want. Check Rock Band Network songs. Too much new metal that all have the same vocal style, not enough classic metal.

Finally, I will be able to actually sing in a video game without awkward looks~!

.. Then again, like someone else mentioned, this could end up with the "Justin Bieber" effect, and give us a heckload of new wannabe Hollywood sin- Oh god.

STOP THIS NAOW!

For god's sake people, this is an optional feature. It's not automatically applied to the game, it's just a setting so piss-poor singers can at least keep people's ears from bleeding.
