Since when does Rockstar make RPGs?

You can't just take any good developer and think that they can make any type of game good.
THats why its a hypothetical question.
I'm saying that because they have no experience in making RPGs they wouldn't be able to make a good RPG.

So that's the answer to your hypothetical question. It would suck.
Two things, first of all, hypothetical questions aren't meant to have real answers, rather to induce conversation, and contemplation. Second, you are automatically assuming something simply because of your own personal bias, since rockstar has never created an rpg, one they made could be terrible, or it could be amazing, but its impossible to judge. Trying to judge something that does not exist is foolish and pathetic.
You asked what Fallout 3 would be like if it was developed by Rockstar. I gave you the answer that you asked for.

Also I am not basing my assumption on bias. I have no idea where you got that idea from. Rockstar has never made an RPG. They have no experience in making an RPG. So it's logical to assume that their first attempt at an RPG would not be successful. They would be working on a game that is far from their comfort zone.

I'm not saying Rockstar is bad developer. It's just that the staff they have hired is not experienced in making RPGs.

I probably would have liked it less, because I thought GTA4 was pretty boring, yeah I'm all cool like that.
While I agree to a certain degree than realism can kill the fun, it would otherwise be a travesty not to mention the well designed missions, story and game world. But however, Bestheda, as much as I love to put them in the backseat over BioWare's storytelling capabilities, is without any doubt a master in the art of creating a massive game world that you could go back to, and explore at your heart's content, and still want to do more than just shoot generic mutant #3460237140.

It would be a crack war instead of a nuclear war. Vault gangsters would fight each other to rep their respective vaults.

"Vault 101 to the max!"

I can hear the horror right now.
After watching Jericho, the closest to a post-apocalyptic TV Show, it's obvious humans who shall band together would want to fight over resources, along with multiple parties claiming sovereignty over the land, so yeah, gang wars, as much as I hate them, would fit the Fallout 3 world.

The Raiders somehow feel out of place, as in, is there a chain of command for these brutes? If no, why don't they fight each other? IF yes, the vault dweller should have at least been able to work for them, or eliminate them.

Wouldn't have that godawful intro.

Probably be more fun in every concievable way, with perhaps a few drive-bys thrown in there.

If the Fallout 3 people did GTA the sales would plummet incredibly violently.

It'd be cool, especially if they had an easter-egg where you can get a costume so that you can dress as Tommy Vercetti from GTA: Vice City.
But we probably wouldn't have an AntAgonizer costume, so it would be fail.

Your fat, annoying cousin would show up at random and demand that you bowl with him back in Vault 101.

Yeah, about that "poor quality" bit...no, not so much. The GTA series plays very well and has great design. Even though GTAIV bored me to tears, I wouldn't say that it was of poor quality.

You're right about how they use controversy to help hype up their games, though.

I wouldn't have liked it too much. Never cared for GTA...or table tennis.
I love Bethesda, and they did a great job with Fallout.

fanboy detected...

Seriously, GTA and Fallout are two completely different games. Rockstar has never made a RPG game before so a Rockstar Fallout would likely be bad.... And I'm not sure if Bethesada ever made a game like GTA before (I don't really follow them) so it would likely be bad too.

The GTA games are very expensive to develop. The voice talent and music licensing alone must cost a fortune. That's not even including all the teen rated games they do. I really liked GTAIV too.

Grand Theft Rubble?!

Anywho, that would be an interesting possibly. I have seen them adapt the core principles of GTA to "The Bully", so I know they aren't a one trick pony...

Might have worked.

The joys of GTA games come from the radio and city. Fallout games do not have major cities and may not have the tech for numerous radio stations. I don't think Rockstar would do it right.

This.

If they did it, the plot would be like this: You are this survivor dude and you do jobs for other survivors. Them one of the survivors betrays you and you kill him in the end.

*Sorry for spoiling barely every rockstar game.

PS: Even with that, rockstar still wons.

gta 4 was very bad, fallout 3 was very good. fallout 3 was a better FPS, better story, better RPG, and better sandbox. quests in gta 4 all exactly the same, kill X, pick up X. no storyline. terrible shooter combat. no rpg elements. no exploration, all looks the same.

I could go on all day. oh and on pc versions gta 4 graphics/performance is awful.

It would lack the RPG elements, fans of the old series would hate it even more (due to said lack of RPG elements), It would have more people (and a greater emphasis on the possibly for theft), I would never have played it, There would be number of GTA in-jokes, and The protagonist would have a back story and the story itself would probably be better(since the Fallout 3 story is pretty meh).
