Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaait a second here.

What made the game so great was the western setting, but this game takes place at the very end of the Wild West. So how would you make a sequal to that?

I hope for a prequal.

WTB PC version.

I don't care about anything else, I just want a PC version.
(I don't usually say this, but)
You forgot to add "/thread"

Seriously R*! i don't care if it's a bullshit quality port like GTA4 was. I honestly don't care if you do that stupid thing with GFWL. just give us the god damn game!

they'd be making a sequel regardless of whether they had enough "content" or not.

You are dead to me Rockstar until you start making PC games again. First RDR and now LA Noire. Westerns and Film Noir are my favorite genres. Damn you Rockstar, damn you to hell.

Some ideas:

A prequel starring Landon Ricketts, could be set during the 1880's or so, maybe climaxing with the Blackwood Massacre (a little bit background, it's like the shootout at the OK Corral for the Red Dead universe.)

Red Dead Retribution: Starring Jack Marston as an anti-government outlaw, maybe as a sort of spiritual successor to Dutch Van der Linde, sort of ironic considering John Marston killed him. Set in during WW1, maybe Jack's in the army or maybe he's still in the states, whatever.

Red Dead Revolution: Cowboys in the October Revolution. 'Nuff said.

I'd be surprised if a sequel wasn't already in the works, I'd be impressed if said sequel wasn't a bland ripoff of the first game without enough extra content to actually be called a sequel.
well it is the third game in the series if it does come out, and redeption wasnt a bland rip off of revolver with very little added in.
Indeed, Redemption was almost nothing like Revolver or so I've heard. A change from bad to good is appreciated but to go from good to better is difficult, and thus less likely.

Also Red Dead Revenge. Jack seeking more revenge on the corruption in the federal government, focusing on him as an outlaw/bank-robber/classic anti hero.
haha good one, simple but perfect (and first one I saw)
I could only think of Red Dead Requested by the fans..
I think it would be very funny if Rockstar instead of focusing on any more GTA games, instead made a series of games focusing on each new generation on Marstons, in a GTA style, building up to the present day.
lol YES
we can watch New Austin go through the Industrial Revolution and or whatever idk something
and watch it become GTA (well okay not exactly)

whoa...my mind suddenly went to an Assassin's Creed-esque viewing an ancestor's memories via DNA-NOOOOOO

but yes I can def see the potential in new iterations of Red Dead R[etc]

It could be very interesting, especially if it focused on Jack Marston and his struggle with the dying Old West, and the newer industrialized America. With towns like Armadillo disappearing into the dusty wastes, and more "civilized" towns such as Blackwater becoming more popular.

Also Red Dead Revenge. Jack seeking more revenge on the corruption in the federal government, focusing on him as an outlaw/bank-robber/classic anti hero.

That sounds alot better then my idea, "Blue Alive Condemnation".

Actually i like the latter part of the second idea a lot. Maybe after the...events of the ending, Jack goes on to be some sort of bank-robber type, is arrested and is forced by the government to work as a sort of agent in Europe.

Red Dead Retarded: You are a cowboy living with the horrible effects of Down Syndrome trying to thwart cowboys threatening to close down the local recreation center that you and your buddies frequent.

Would have been more original than that Zombie stuff. I feel it underminded the story of Normal Red Dead Redemption.

I don't think a direct sequel would be the wisest decision. I'd support another Rockstar wild west game though.

Red Dead Reputation: A prequel where the main character's high school social life is in shambles. (western dating sim GO!)
I demand this. It sounds all sorts of epic and hilarious.

I'd love if you played a game as a drifter/bounty hunter seeking a certain target, more than playing as Jack honestly. Though, I'm probably biased after watching Clint Eastwood all these years.

If they had enough ideas for a sequel, why in the name of Zeus did they decide instead to bring out some stupid zombie expansion?

*cough* mafia II* (not the bank robbing part. The Europe part)
The red dead series is about the Wild West, not WWI. I like the ricketts idea and the outlaw idea. Jack did want to be an outlaw as a boy. hopefully they will make robbing a bank more challenging if they do make an outlaw sequel. That would be pretty fun driving in one of old timey cars.
I picture the ricketts idea as the bounty hunting RDRevolver but sandbox format
