Welcome, friends, to this Roman RP. If you choose to join up you'll experience such things as you've never seen before. Mad druids, corrupt centurions, raging elephants and much, much more. This RP centres around a band of Roman Legionaries on an expedition from Rome to explore the realms of the Empire that they've conquered. This land is positively bursting with hostile peoples, machines of war and Celtic fury.
So, the rules:
Please try to keep your characters and their actions within the realms of believability. However, try also to keep your character as interesting and original as you can. A bit of fantasising is allowed, but things like magic swords/shooting fire from one's hands etc. is not allowed.
Grammar doesn't matter too much (I'm not going to criticise anyone for it), but try and keep it at least reasonable, that'd be a huge help.
Finally, all the normal rules of RP still apply (no trenchcoating, no spamming, no RPing another player without their permission). You get the idea, read the RP guidelines for more.
Now, on to the character sheet:
--------------------------------------------
Name: Glabrio Vespus
Place of Birth: Talabriga
Profession: Commander (Choose any Roman profession you wish, although try to keep it relevant, e.g. Soldier, druid, archer etc.)
Age: 29 (Remember, most people didn't live much longer than 45/50)
Appearance: A wavy-haired man of average height and build. Is usually seen wearing Roman military uniform. Glabrio has a slightly hooked nose, much like the infamous Emperor Julius Caesar.
History: Glabrio was born in the town of Talabriga, in what is now Portugal. He joined the Roman army at the age of 21, and has been a soldier ever since. His skills lie chiefly within the realms of close combat and leadership, as he can barely hit a target with a spear or a bow. He can be known to get overly aggresive, and has a very short temper. Glabrio is also a devoutly religious man, and prays to all the Gods (Mars especially) before entering into combat. While not particularily wise, Glabrio possesses a great talent for inspiring and leading people.
--------------------------------------------
Story:
Glabrio strode through the crowded streets of Rome, clutching the scroll that contained his orders, direct from Emperor Domitian. He unfurled it once more, not quite believing what it read:
For the eyes of Commander Glabrio only.
My Glabrio, you have proven much skill and bravery since you joined the Roman Army, as well demonstrating great oratory skills, both of which shall come in useful on the coming assignment.
As you know, though our Empire spans half the globe, we are unable to monitor it all. We require someone who is able to inspire fear of the great Roman Empire back into the hearts of our subjects. I have chosen you, Glabrio, and a group of various other accomplished proffesionals of whom I have also selected to accompany you. You must travel the Empire, striking fear into the hearts of our subjects once more with demonstrations of your might. You are to meet your associates at the temple of Mercury in the Subura district. I have told them to meet you there before the day is out.
But be warned, for there are many who will seek to stop you, even kill you. If you die, I am in no doubt that you will spend eternity in paradise, and that you will die a noble death.
Good hunting, My Glabrio.
Still excited, Glabrio pushed open the doors of the Temple of Mercury, and awaited his companions eagerly.
