Marcus nodded to everyone in the room as he was introduced. "I am Marcus Orosius" he said in reply. "Specialist infantry fighter from the province of Hispaniae" he turned to look at the commander. "The legion legatus handed me a scroll which instructed me to report to a Commander Glabrio here in Rome, that is all that I am aware of". "Why have you summoned for me?" he asked curiously.

"you never know, a knife in the dark can come in handy in the wild lands of Gaul" he said aloud " it comes just as often as a drunk with a club, but..."

"You want us to traverse across Europe?" Marcus voiced aloud. He was a bit puzzled but also highly intrigued. It would be a chance to see home again. "Is this a personal venture of yours or is this a senate mandated mission?." he pressed, "Don't get me wrong, I would gladly lend my services for the Roman army, as long as it pays well and I am not entirely convinced that you can afford my services." "What say you?" he asked Glabrio.

"Noble friends, let me state our mission, and state it clearly. Our Emperor, the Great Domitian, has decreed that we, a skilled and brave band of men, travel across the furthest reaches of the Great Roman Empire, seeking to inspire fear of the Romans once more into their hearts. And not only this, but also to quell the troublemakers, to silence the dissenters, whether by the sword or by fire, all who reject the Empire must be made examples of! Do I have your allegiance?"

Again Abdul swung wildy, this time actually decapitating a statue and yelled "For honour!, I will follow you across the world!" He then walked to a priest and gave him a large bag of golden coins to pay for the statue head, he returned and got himself further acquainted with the others.

Do we need many more people

I'm good, if we always want more players we can work it into the story

Marcus was lost in deep thought for sometime, his concentration was only broken when Abdul accidentally beheaded a statue with his axe. Turning back to his thoughts, he pondered about the offer. An adventure across Europe seemed very promising indeed and given that there could be several opportunities of acquiring some loot, it could very well turn out to be a profitable venture, also he hadn't had a chance to visit his home and see his farm in over a year. Marcus nodded to himself before answering, "You have my allegiance, Commander Glabrio" he said with a bow.

Nero ran his hand through his balding hair and sighed. One last campaign could be just the thing to fill the void left after leaving the army. Though Nero knew that if he walked through the gates of Rome, he won't be coming back again. He then again surveyed the room, looking at each of the new arrivals before his gaze finally rested again on Glabrio.
"One last time. No point rotting away here when I could be doing some good for Rome."
He then stood and threw a handful of silver coins into the collection box, praying for luck.
"I have one problem though, I need weapons and armour. Unlike these other fine gentlemen, I don't make a habit walking around the city dressed for war."

The young turned to Nero, smiling " I am merly prepared for anything, at any time, Old man" he grined at the Nero, having no idea of what kind of battles he must have fought in his time

Name: Gaius Valerius

Place of Birth: Aléria, Corsica

Profession: Swordsman

Age: 26

Appearance: Medium height and well built. His dark hair was long almost up to his shoulders. His dark eyes matched his dark body armor. He carried a bronze shield on his back.

History: Gaius was born on the island of Corsica. He joined the Roman army 4 years ago and was trained in hand to hand combat. His expertise in sword combat placed him in the front lines facing the foes of Rome. He was on his way from a campaign in Gaul when he received word that he will be transferred to a Commander Glabrio in Rome.

Story: Gaius arrives in Rome at the temple of Mercury to hear Glabrio's proposition. "I will assist Rome and the Emperor on this mission" he stated to the commander. "When do you suggest we leave. I may need some time to gather supplies and purchase a method transport though"

Glabrio finished the last of his drink, and cleared his throat once more.

"Who here objects to leaving at this minute? Here is what I propose, we go from this place to the portum, where we board the first ship to Gaul. I have good information from a merchant friend that there will be a a ship to Gaul leaving not long from now. Let us leave, and leave now!" He strode to the great wooden doors of the temple, pushing them apart and bursting out back on to the bustling, sun-drenched streets of Rome.
