The fact that you want to get rid of Jack of all people really has me wondering about your well-being.
A large number of people don't like her, including me. It's fine to have a character that's psychotic, but a character who's pretty well pure psychotic with no other features is unlikable.

Liara returning would go a long way towards rectifying that shower of shit squad they forced on us in ME2 with their crappy interaction and "Im busy because you didnt want to fuck me" personalities.

Hopefully theyll save Liara actually joining the squad again for ME3 though. That way the shitty ME2 squad can get cameod off like they deserve.

I have to say, having most of the squad capable of dying in ME2 is definitely one of my favourite aspects (most other things were blatant shooter pandering). It makes me feel better knowing that none were saved for ME3, and with them being dead in so many gamers saves, it greatly reduces the chance having to endure their presence in another game.

I always assumed the Shadow Broker wasn't an individual at all. Rather Shadow Broker was just a term for the organization that trades information. The way I see it there is no Shadow Broker. He's a made up individual created by a group of people similar to Nedward Lud of the Lddites or Bob Dobbs from Church of the SubGenius. It kind of makes Liara's whole little quest to hunt him down futile.

OK, here's the long-shot hope for, but...

I am hoping Liara is the star of the Mass Effect 2 expansion. In short, I want to see an "Awakening" style expansion for ME2 that ditches Shepard for a while, picking up Liara as the new main character.

There's a whole host of reasons this would be awesome.

1. It lets the Shepard plot rejig for the finale. With a nice breather story arc in place, the story can be smoothed into place for the best setup into the last chapter of the trilogy.
2. It allows Bioware to resolve a subplot without it dominating the third game.. C'mon. The fate of the Shadow Broker turned into a loyalty mission? Get real. The Shadow Broker's demise is a plot that requires about twenty hours to resolve, surely. It's a perfect story for an expansion.
3. It uses a familiar face distanced from the main storyline, uniquely suited to the game's mechanics. With Liara's distancing from Shepard, she can now set up her own plot that can impact upon while not distracting from his/her main story. In addition, her personality shift from game 1 to 2 neatly puts her in the crux of Paragon/Renegade. Do you play her as the naive, caring scientist of game 1? (Paragon) Or do you further her shift to cold-hearted pragmatist in game 2? (Renegade.)

There's also some really good reasons why it won't happen.

1. No character customisation. Bioware always does character customisation. Liara's face and look, however, is set. It would be jarring to not have the options to make your own character.
2. Set powers She's a biotic. It's what she does. You could not play it as a tech specialist or fighter.
3. Just plain seems unlikely. Bioware seem pretty determined to follow Shepard. Much as I love the main-character with minor-character chapter intermissions model (which the original Half-Life did so well) it doesn't feel like Bioware's MO.

(ps. Oh, and my pick? The Shadow Broker is an AI. Thus it can be destroyed, but it's no small task.)

I'd rather have Jack than Liara, who was a whiny *****. Though that wouldn't stop me buying it especially if it has to do with the Shadow Broker.

She's twisted, and definitly worth a psycological study. But, I found her interesting. There was a reason why she turned out the way she did. So, not psychotic, just pushed to the brink by the world around her, and damn! She's still standing. Yepp, I liked her. She seems all psychotic and looney at first glance, but delve a little deeper... anyway, that's just my opinion.

If Liara T'Soni is going to be on Mass Effect 2 then that is just lazy and uncreative work. Bioware can do better than that? Can they? Oh wait, Kasumi! She looks like a recycle version of Tali and Visas Marr from KOTOR 2.

Come on Bioware! You can do better than that!

Well personally I'd be very interested in a Liara DLC. My femShep (who romanced Liara in ME1) has so far remained dateless in ME2 after a couple of playthroughs, simply because I don't find any of the male characters particularly interesting for a relationship. Well, Thane, maybe, but come on, the guy's dying already...

And for the record I am a Jack fan, and will probably romance her (or Tali) when I finally get around to finishing a ME1 playthrough with a dudeShep.

Hopefully, this turns out to be an expansion pack, and not just another boring single mission. If BioWare was going to make an expansion for this game (which, considering its success, they will), this would be the best way to go about it. Anything less and you have to ask, "What's the point?"

Getting rid of the shadow broker is like getting rid of the illusive man and Cerberus. If its not a full fledged expansion, then I'm not only not interested, but actually insulted.

I think that if Bioware did make a Liara DLC it should be like the Zaeed's Loyalty quest were the Shadow Broker should escape but regardless of Shepard's decisions... And Liara will turn to Shepard for "comfort" :D
