Rumor: Microsoft Working on Halo: CE Remake

Wow. Really?

Don't get me wrong- I love Halo, but the games weren't similar enough as is? The core gameplay of every Halo game has stayed essentially unchanged since Halo CE, but at least each sequel brought new content. I can't see anything new and interesting that a remake would bring to the franchise.

No doubt this could make a ****load of money- but a great, innovative game? No chance.

hope they make it right

and for fuck's sake, make it for pc too

and dont they dare modify the campaign to make it like the later Halo games
If they modify the Library and make it two levels shorter, PLUS explain about the other Spartans, I'd be happy.

Otherwise, this is just stupid.

...Nah.

If you're gonna do this, don't put it on shelves, make it a downloadable thing replacing the CE already there. Update the graphics, physics (no more die-if-you-touch-it-lightly Warthog) and enemy AI (enemy AI in Reach was fantastically brilliant). Also, make the allied AI not-retarded.

Also, I might download the XBL CE. Do you guys think it has a higher chance of working on my comp screen-attached 360 than the boxed original xbox games (which, apart from Halo 2, don't)?

Probably just to keep fans happy i suppose, play the games in order, and it makes you think how so much can change in a day. (Reach was before Halo: CE yet the weapons, vehicles, armour, even the Covenant are different, this instalment will basically just replace the other Halo: CE)

Believe it or not as I was playing reach this is one thing I thought would be a great idea as having replayed Halo 1 recently running it with the Reach engine would be a lot of fun oh and you'd actually get to use the banshee that way :p

I don't understand why this is needed. Sure it'll make money I'm sure, but that's about the only reason. It's not like we're lacking for Halo games..

Out of all the games I think deserve an update, this is one of them. They can update the look and canon, and if they do it right, it could be awesome.

Also, I think I'm the only person on the planet that sincerely ENJOYS The Library. Halo 1's Flood were the most fun to fight, hands down.

I'd like to see the unincluded Covenant races find niches in Combat Evolved's campaign. I'd also be happy if they replaced the Library level with the concurrently unfolding events at Major Silva's Alpha Base invasion which was gone into in depth in the novelization of Combat Evolved.

I know, I'd like that too, but I actually meant that they don't make CE's campaign (you know, pretty much the only good one in the whole series) into, say, Halo 3's campaign =P

I think that this could actually be a decent idea, provided they sell it as a remake for a decent price instead of a 'reboot' with a $60 price tag (though that is more likely). I'd be fine with paying $30 or so for a version of Halo with all the old maps remade with Reach's engine and some new maps, along with the entire campaign redone in the new engine and online with 4 player co-op for the story.

But if they just do a shitty remake then send it out for $60, then I'll be pissed. This is the most likely scenario if you ask me.

An update to the Reach engine would be fine. Unlike a majority of people, i liked the Library and the Flood. Keep it as it is, but go ahead and upgrade the graphics.

OR you could make a game focusing on another aspect of the Human-Covenant War. Come on I mean, the Clone Wars from Star Wars lasted 3 years and there's tons of content for it. The Covenant war lasted nearly 30 years. Plenty of story material there.

I really hate it when people complain about the Library. Suck it up and stick too it, it's not that hard! Nor is it boring or overly-long. There's a reason why it's sooooo huge, and it tells you why if you listen to Guilty Spark.

I would buy this, if it came out on PC. I love the game, but I'm not getting an Xbox just for it.

Or if it came out on PS3...
Now THAT would be sweet. Plus they'd make a shit load more cash.

Big fan of Halo here.

As much as I resent the idea of remaking a game that isn't even a decade old, in this case it does make sense.

First, there is the matter of a different studio taking a crack at Halo, and doing a remake of an established game would be a safe move. After all, if it's shit, there's still the first. A remake wouldn't keep the first from retaining its quality.

Second, it could be an opportunity to introduce new concepts from the minds at 343 in a way that maintains a comfortable level of familiarity.

Although this is a rumor, perhaps it won't pan out so horribly if it turns out to be true. However, I do understand the plight of the fans outraged by this idea.

Change the graphics, add weapons, that's it. Then again, I still play Halo: Combat Evolved, so a remake would be pretty interesting if they added some new hardware to fuck around with.
