Hmm, has nintendo revolutionized the gaming industry again? We'll have to see; having said that, I think Microsoft should stick to their crowd, Nintendo is doing the casual thing already (with Sony going the same direction), we need at least ONE traditional gaming console don't we?
Next generation Sony and Microsoft are going to have their all special gimmicky muck-a-muck, super-powered to handle the most mG's (mega-Gimmicks) a second, and Nintendo will come back with a cheap, standard-type console that's just as powerful as the previous generations and watch them flounder as they fight each other because it will get all the hardcore games and once again end up on top of a mountain of money.
If this truly IS the next Xbox, though, they better allow room for you to play regular games, otherwise it'll probably tank. While the Wii simplified its motion controls a bit, there is no way you can simplify just a camera. At least, that's the impression I get out of this. OK, it's a camera that will be reading a lot of 3D data and processing, but that's just it: it seems like the real function here is for the game programmer to say "How do we read all this data?" I'm not entirely sure on how the technology works (and if anyone has an idea or anything correct me) but this seems like this is going to make the effort of making the game more complex, causing a rise in development kits and thus game prices, and also causing fewer developers to actually want to make games.
If they really thought this through, they'll most likely make this just an add-on. Unless, of course, they DO supplement it with standard games and the higher density discs. Then it's got a chance. And I say this because I have a feeling that the next generation, whenever it comes, won't be nearly as much about graphics.
