Like that's gonna happen.

Americans are never gonna make a game about a war they got so fucking owned in that they had to drop napalm at innocent people.
Like the way British developers will never make a game that involves the revolutionary war? Oh wait, the people who made Empire: Total War were British.

Also, your claim about the Vietnam war is a huge oversimplification.

To be fair, the vast majority of British people (speaking as a Brit) couldn't care less about the American revolution. It was quite a long while ago.

From an outside perspective, it still seems like Vietnam is quite a raw issue with certain people. We don't really have the same equivalent (although that depends slightly on Iraq and Afghanistan)

I realize that most British people (also speaking as a Brit) couldn't care less about the American revolution. After all, it wasn't even the best colony we had in terms of profit/investment ratio. However, the Vietnam war isn't really that raw an issue with anyone but the people who were there, and the people who lost friends who were there (speaking as a person who's been living in America for quite a few years now).

Not to mention it was over 200 years ago, and usually the least insane of us get over conflicts after their eighty or ninety year mark. I mean, are the British still touchy over the failed Canadian Revolution of 1833? Does anyone even remember it? Thought so.
Hey, are you calling me insane because I still care about that time when Ogg took over Ugg's cave by force? I hate Ogg and all his descendants to this day for their crimes!

I'd be pleased if you could gather together a random group of kids and for them to tell you any three facts about World War One. Let alone the other hundreds of conflicts/wars we've had. (I would have used WW2 as an example, but I would expect even the most historically illiterate to know about that, thanks to the media's vast coverage)

I hope they do that would be the only reason to buy a CoD game other then Modern Warfare 2.

Fuck Treyarch.

There are so many ways that they could make a game about the american vietnam war interesting, but they probably won't. All evidence so far points to them not having any imagination to speak of.
Have you played Nazi Zombies?
No.

Oh great, plucked from one already-done franchise into another, only this time, it's a war we won by finally deciding the best thing we should do is run for the hills.

Not that Call of Duty's an inherently bad franchise- I loved CoD 4- but I just don't like where the games take place in.

Yes because there certainly aren't over 15 releases on the war out already that were made in America itself and often had very high sales.

So far after looking at your other thread, all I think of you as is just another one of those annoying anti-america idiots who doesn't even find good reasons to do so.

Back on topic; I can see this happening. It's the one thing Call of Duty has to make in a game with guns besides the Future and the gunpowder era.

I highly doubt it'll be in vietnam, and if it does it wont sell very well in the US. And game companys make games for one reason $$$$$$.

Meh I'm stick of playing some damn Yank all the time, there where a lot of wars involving a lot of countries lets play as them for a change. Like how about being an African in the Border war or being in the Russian Civil war or the Rwandan civil war. I want some damn variety.

They would have to be completely brain-dead to make a game based on 'nam. It wasn't so much of a war as it was a massacre.

Oh God, really?

The only people in the world who have ever managed to make a good 'Nam game were DICE, and Treyarch just barely managed to pull off a good World War 2 game. They really are so cocky from one good game that they think they're going to do what so many have failed at and make a good Vietnam game? Fat chance.

But I'll assume this is just a senseless rumor. And they had better not make some Cold War espionage game. That's so far from what a COD game should be I would have to firebomb Treyarch's headquarters.

Maybe, maybe there's a chance they could pull off a Korea game (since as far as I know no one has tried it before), but again, it's new territory and Treyarch needed to stand on Infinity Ward's shoulders to manage what tons of people have done before. Sounds to me like they're going to screw themselves over.

I've been looking forward to a good Vietnam game for a long time now... I'm personally very excited about this actually. If Treyarch manages to pull it off, which is possible, it can give people insight on how scary and intense 'Nam actually was. I just really, really hope Treyarch doesn't mess it up though.
