Because they will be silly muskets, not a great weapon against a troll that's storming towards you, it's not like 1 shot is going to stop it. Fable 2's guns were overpowered, real muskets don't preform nearly as good as the one's in Fable 2.HK_01 said:OT: Meh, doesn't sound good. I didn't like the modern stuff in Fable II and I'm not going to like it here. Seriously, it would take the entire charm of the fantastic world with elves andn demons(and unicorns) they have created. Why would I fear a any of the creatures in the world if I have guns(if they advance the weapons like it happened in Fable II)?

Someone else put forward a pretty good scenario, after Oblivion the Empire is left without an emperor, queue civil wars to fill the void of power, goodbye stagnant period. I'd love to see some inner turmoil, something different from the standard "evil demons want to kill us all" spiel.Sevre90210 said:I think that's more or less because of our access to technology and the motivation of war to produce better technology. Oblivion is set in a pretty stagnant period in time, the equivalent to our medieval or dark ages, in 200 years, don't expect to have a flushing toilet.
Think of them being an opener weapon, that's what I thought they would be in Fable 2 (sad they ended up being overpowered): you rush towards your opponent, confuse/wound them with a pistol shot and while they're dazed you rush in with your spells and melee weapons. Again, think Assassin's Creed 2. Ezio will have a flint- or matchlock pistol in his sleeve, but it's not a weapon to rely on in battle.HK_01 said:I know, but a realistic musket would suck! You'd reload for one minute before you can shoot again and accuracy would be terrible.
I think that with Bethesdas current situation with Fallout, we'll see a more war-torn wasteland with a new Daedric threat. In fact I'm putting my money on it. There's also going to be one abandoned Dwarven stronghold stocked with advanced weaponry which a resistance group will get a hold of.Assassinator said:Someone else put forward a pretty good scenario, after Oblivion the Empire is left without an emperor, queue civil wars to fill the void of power, goodbye stagnant period. But as Max pointed out, we have no idea how technology progresses in the Elder Scrolls universe. The dwarves were pretty advanced, but they're wiped out. We'll just have to wait, I expect to see at least things like crossbows and maybe muskets/flintlock pistols. Think Assassin's Creed 2, that era, sure it had guns but they weren't the most effective weapon out there just yet, and I hope to see the same in the new Elder Scrolls.

Good heavens I don't hope so. War? Yes please, but a wasteland? No thank you. I like my pretty little villages, and 200 years later would hopefully mean Renaissance style buildings, which looks gorgeous.Sevre90210 said:I think that with Bethesdas current situation with Fallout, we'll see a more war-torn wasteland with a new Daedric threat. I thought the Nerevarine is supposed to be immortal.quack35 said:Jesus. That's a really long time.
The Nerevarine and the Champion will be long dead by then... sad face...
well in medevil times yes but 200 years from now will be very different or even if it slipped into a sort of renasaunce thing it would be at least a little differentSevre90210 said:I'm expecting some Steampunk, but being realistic, there's not a lot you can do in 200 years. Maybe nicer gear, that's it.
Oh, I forgot! You're right! Happy face!CD-R said:I thought the Nerevarine is supposed to be immortal.quack35 said:Jesus. That's a really long time.

Well I'm sure if the Fallout engine is anything to go by, we'll be seeing raids on those pretty little villages of yours and I'm sure that a few cities have been upgraded to the classical gothic architecture but I guarantee that Imperial City is decimated.Assassinator said:Good heavens I don't hope so.
