So originally DA:O was basically a console port of a PC game, right? I don't remember complaints. And now the sequel will essentially be a PC port of a concole game, and PC gamers are complaining. That's why you should be both and you can always get the best experience!

I truly hope it doesn't work out how it sounds now. I play these RPGs for the tactical style of gameplay, and the first thing I do when I'm playing is switch to a tactical view point so I can take everything in. To me, it doesn't feel as immersive for some reason otherwise.

If I wanted a first- (or third-) person hack and slash, then I'd buy one specifically.

Oh well, I suppose we can just wait until the first clever modder goes out and provides us with some way to cope. Hell, who knows, they might take the DA2 storyline and mod it into a module that we could play on the first game engine! ...well, I won't hold my breath.

You complain when the price of PC games is put up, then you complain that developers start cutting features to keep the price low - especially when it's for a much smaller and much, much more piracy-happy market... some people...

Oh great. A made for console RPG. They're always great!
Mass Effect was designed primary for consoles and I loved it. And I know a lot of pc people who love it too.

Well, its not going to effect me as I always thought it was better on the console, so, im all for it.

I am sure though, PC gamers are going to feel a lack of love from this decision though

Assuming the response was on the up and up, I don't personally see anything worth getting worried about myself - as long as we have a tool capable of creating content for Dragon Age 2, I don't think it much matters if it's an update to the one from the first game or a brand new tool. As for the camera, while I did use the isometric perspective a couple of times, I never really played the game that way to the extent that I'd miss having the option if it wasn't there anymore. So long as the level of tactical control over the other party members stays at similar levels you won't see me complaining.

Well, now I do have a valid reason why I do not like BioWare apart that I do not like their games...

I am quite disappointing actually, as I am a PC gamer myself, and though I do not like BioWare's games, I fin it sad that they aren't going to support the platform. However, this is only a rumor, and hopefully it isn't true...

I got Dragon Age: Origins for the tactical combat aspect as I'm one of those people who generally enjoy it over shooters and hack an slash games. It doesn't sound like they're changing that, just the camera angles so I'm not fussed.

I feel a shitstorm coming... time to hide in the gaming vault.

I'm primarily a console player so I am happy to hear the console versions will be better than the first game. But I feel bad for the PC guys, it seems that the platform is slowly being pushed out of the market by publishers and developers.

I can understand it though, there is far more money to be made from console gaming and they gotta make a living.

lol yeah, like the mods that FIXED YOUR LAME ASS PROBLEMS WITH THE FIRST ONE!! LIKE NOT SHIPPING THE HIGH RES TEXTURES!!

what ever, go to the consoles, see if I care, like there aren't other RPGs. like that one from Blizzard that begins with a 'D' and ends with a '**** you lame Bioware!!11!'

also, its like they would have to go out of their way to remove these features... like, they are already there... from the first one...

its like they are all just continuing to test what shit they can get away with with the customer...

**** that noise.

on the other hand, maybe they are just assuming everyone will crack it and mod it that way... of course they will all PIRATE it that way too... because the only version that will be any good will be the PIRATED one...

I am SOO over lazy developers.

remember back in the day? when games companies only made games for PC? and PCs were like a million dollars so only few people had them?? how is it that back THEN they could still make enough money to support the community, and now they are making billions of dollars, they are too lazy to even port across features from the old one!?? it is just completely inexplicable!

No. The original was developed for both differently, that's why there were no complaints. It's what all developers should do, tailor the game to the platform it's being made on.

Since I've recently switched to being primarily a console gamer, this doesn't bother me so much, as I'll probably play DA 2 on 360 anyway. Here's my issue though: I seem to remember Bioware responding to PC gamers' complaints about the simplification of Mass Effect 2 by saying that they were responding to what the majority of fans wanted, and that they weren't too concerned about changing Mass Effect because they now had the Dragon Age property, which was a much more traditional RPG experience. Now it seems like they're slowly doing the exact same thing with Dragon Age, which seems a little like giving all of those people that they were trying to reassure before the middle finger...

Bioware isn't usually known for screwing over fans like this, which concerns me a little. I mean, I don't necessarily think that the changes mentioned in the original post will alienate me (although I am quite the fan of mods) but if DA 2 turns out to be as dumbed down of an experience as ME 2 was, I may be a little disappointed. I'll still love the game, as I did with ME 2, but it'll just compound my fears that the kind of complex games that I love are slowly dying away in favor of inane run-and-gun games.

Pc people should stop being cry babies. There's not the support you want because not enough of you actually bought the game. Console people did. You are not a priority anymore.

It sucks but, well, the alternative is fairly obvious if you want this kind of behavious to change.

End of story.

I would be very concerned about this, given that the whole concept of Dragon Age is very nearly worthless on a console.* But I'm not. The simple fact is that Bioware is not, and never has been, this stupid. This is just a rumor; they'll figure something out.

*That's not a dig at console gamers. This game is just measurably better on a PC in every regard, and that's not likely to change for the sequel.

And why not make bad God of War rip off out of it when we are at it?
Hey at least the story would probably be good. Honestly I think Bioware needs to break out of their rut, they've been making the same game since KOTOR.
