Well, even if this rumor is wrong I will still buy it and play it through the Steam in-game UI. I'll still buy this game retail (if I buy it - I'm still not sure) regardless of the validity of this rumor.

However, if this rumor happens to be true (which I hope), it'll make this game so convenient by automatically attaching it to Steam after I buy it retail.

Well screw you steamworks. I'm getting it on 360.

Yeah I prefer GFWL... oh I went there.
I don't mind either, honestly. GFWL isn't that annoying, and Steamworks is nice to have around too.

I think gamers are far too whingy for their own good sometimes.

OT: any news about this game? Looks kinda cool :D

Being a developer that has be rather true to their word when it comes to pleasing their community, I have absolutely no reason to doubt that they wouldn't go through with it if ever the (unlikely) event of Steam servers going down permanently. Using your argument is pretty much just a cop-out...
no.
It's more of an indication that people shouldn't trust Valve in the way that they will eat their words just because they said something as it is blind faith.
If action was to be put in place before such scenario would occur to make Valve liable such as a law or a"guarantee" then there would be greater "trust" however just now it's like trusting Google.
Then you're just a negative person.
