Finally. Took them long enough. Now I won't have to shell out for some more over priced Xbox HDD with it's special boy parts when I decide to get back into the MS side of console gaming.
It did at one point, but they removed the option not long ago iirc.. now they're restoring it in a limited capacity.Valiance said:Wait, 360 didn't have USB until now? Wow.
It's about time, I'm glad they're getting it.
There is a 200 GB difference between yours and his so it might not work.Lono Shrugged said:I used my 300 gig HD to play music and movies if I recall. Maybe you'll be ok.slopeslider said:Only 16gb? Only flashdrives?
My 500gb usb hdd is rendered useless.
It recognizes my 500gb for media, but the rumor says 2 16gb flashdrives. I don't even know of a <80gb usb hdd that's still sold.Nouw said:There is a 200 GB difference between yours and his so it might not work.Lono Shrugged said:I used my 300 gig HD to play music and movies if I recall. Nobody is paying attention to the fact that this is intended to replace the memory cards (that few people own) and not the hard drives.BlindMessiah94 said:I like how this is essentially a glorified Memory Card and people are acting like it's the second coming of Jesus.
In the past few years, 2-8gb flash drives have become fairly cheap and common - it's probably getting more expensive for MS to make their memory cards than what they can sell them for. On top of that, very few people buy the memory cards, and there are now downloadable games that exceed the 512mb maximum capacity of the cards they sell.Mr Ink 5000 said:Look at M$'s track record, why would they allow customers to use a storage device that the sale of which gave no profit to M$?
Well you can already play MP3's from a USB drive.300lb. Samoan said:About fucking time. But what I'm looking forward to is when they open up access to USB hard-drives - even if just for music and videos. I think it's absurd that I have a whole hard-drive of music that the XBox won't even acknowledge.
That's just the thing, I already use my XBox and USB drive for music and movies all the time. Although it's kind of fun to pick through my computer's collection and select what I want to watch/listen to and move it to the jump-drive, I really see no reason why I couldn't just connect my 500mb drive and go to town. Supposedly there are some hard-drives that register internally as USB jumpdrives that the XBox will read from, but I believe the models are rather old and obscure and I'm not going to replace my perfectly good drive just to buy one with an interesting technical quirk.Baby Tea said:Well you can already play MP3's from a USB drive.300lb. And WMVs, though not Divx or XVid or anything like that.
Greater media support would be awesome, but I'm liking this move too.
Hopefully this is more then a rumor.
I can see it now...Lono Shrugged said:Nouw said:There is a 200 GB difference between yours and his so it might not work.

Ok now I'm hoping that happens. Time to dig out the terrabyte drive. Maybe I can daisy chain all my drives together and make a wicked fireworks show that may also kill me.
