Seriously though, another Spiderman movie? Why?
I'm wondering the same thing. I quite liked the 2002 version, its hardly been long enough to make a "reboot" of it.
Ah, well. I'll blame Disney. Ever since they took over Marvel, shifty things have been happening*.

*I can't think of anything right now, but I bet there has been something shifty somewhere.

In my opinion they need a reboot big time.....the last bunch of movies spidey barely ever used puns or humor and the only time I laughed was when he went all EMO when he wore the black suit.

I HOPE that they finally inject humor into the fights this time. I honestly don't mind not having MJ, I mean spidey played around with a bunch of other female villians and heros throughout the comics, would be nice to see some of that as well. I was always partial to the Black Cat and wouldn't mind seeing some teasing/romance going on between them.

Main thing for me is that Spidey has fun, makes fun and makes puns. That is central to who spiderman is and it was missing big time in the last incarnation.

I'm sorry Sony but even the inclusion of Miss Deschanel(as nice as she is) is unlikely to sway my disinterest in this reboot.

In the comics, Betty was the first Peter Parker love-interest a'la Lois Lane, but it didn't stick around long. Later, she was the girlfriend of the guy who turned out to be The Hobgoblin, so maybe that's "big plans."

Either way, it's good casting. I've still got absolutely no faith in this movie - the people in charge are all the same people who messed-up #3 and then torpedo'd #4 so they could start over with a younger cast for "Twilight"-appeal - but it IS good casting.

The most relevant part of this news story is that it's another reboot. The powers that be wanted to slaughter the plot of the proposed fourth Tobey Maguire one so badly that both he and Sam Raimi abandoned it, so now they're redoing it again, and before the Raimi ones are even out of recent memory. That poor judgment is terrible, and leads into my thought on Zooey Deschanel specifically:

I think it's a questionable casting choice if it's true. Zooey was pretty good in Yes Man and Hitchhiker's Guide, but absolutely atrocious in Tin Man and questionable in The Happening (though much of that movie was questionable). I already wasn't planning to see the next Spider Man reboot, but if this if the kind of casting they're putting into it, I'm definitely not going to see it. And Sam Jackson as JJJ... I can't even put words to it. Just because an actor is awesome doesn't mean they're right for a role by default.

I don't care who they cast. If Sam Raimi isn't directing Spiderman, I'm not watching Spiderman.
A lot of people don't realize that Spiderman 3 wasn't his fault. Honestly, the fact that it didn't suck way more made me respect the hell out of him. Having the company that ruined Spiderman 3 by forcing them to ram through a bunch of new stuff at the last minute forcing another new Spiderman movie?

... I don't think this would be good even if Sam Raimi directed.

Yeah, it was awesome to have a guy with so much disdain for the source material and such a poor grasp of the medium running things. It's going to be terrible now that we might see someone capable at the helm.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!
***** about Raimi all you want, but remember that he made the Super Hero movie what it is. If not for Raimi, Watchmen, Sin City, Scott Pilgrim, Batman, the Avengers et al. etc. would never have even received the green light to have their scripts written.

This reboot will be the bathwater of Spiderman 3 with no baby. You will be disappointed, or you will be duped.

I understand, but "Nobody could polish this turd!" is a difficult mantra to motivate a march. "No Raimi; no me!" just gets the heart beating and (hopefully) the masses moving (the hell away from this impending travesty).

I don't want to motivate this march: I want to kill it. Seriously, I'm happy with the three Spidey movies I got. I'd rather people killed of this SOB so Marvel doesn't want to make sequels. Besides, the guy they picked for Peter Parker looks like a moron.

I'm going to be honest, I will end up watching this movie purely out of curiosity. I think it will suck but I have to really see for myself how bad it is. And there is always the possibility that it might actually be good.

"Hey man, you wanna go see the new Spiderman movie?"
"Eh... I don't know, I got crap to do.."
"Zooey's in it."
"Where's my wallet?"

I have this picture framed in every room of my house. It's also my desktop background for my PC AND my Cellphone. I want this saying engraved in my Tombstone and mentioned in my Eulogy.
