Honestly, and this probably speaks ill of me as a person, not really. Was it ignorant? Yes. Was it morally repugnant given the crimes committed under Apartheid? Unquestionably. Would they do it again with the benefit of hindsight? I like to think they would not.

And yes, I acknowledge this confirmation bias as hypocritical and a gaping character flaw.
