Well he does fit the role of Kyle Rayner so-

Reactions to the announcement have been mixed, as some worry that Reynolds, who is mostly known for comedic roles, isn't a great fit for the role of the dignified and serious Hal Jordan. Personally, I prefer Kyle Rayner anyway.
What? He's playing Jordan? You best be trollin'.
At least we know Reynolds can do serious roles. He would at least fit the arrogant attitude that Jordan has, and the backup plan of him playing as Barry Allen was a no-brainer. I think in terms of image Cooper fit the bill a bit better though.
I just find it interesting that Reynolds is playing two different superheroes. I thought that wasn't allowed, or at least that if there was going to be a Deadpool movie, that Reynolds wasn't getting the part of Jordan.
Oh, and I prefer John Stewart and Guy Gardner. Actually between the three I like them all pretty equally, but I think Gardner should definitely come as a supporting character eventually, he's just necessary.

... and yes, Hal Jordan was cocky. One of the big things was that the man had no fear. Allegedly this is "why" Kyle Raynor is supposed to be potentially more powerful since he has fear where Hal did not. Meh.
Exactly. Though that being said, if we want to be pedantic, wasn't Jordan technically more powerful than Rayner because of Spectre (I think Spectre taking hold of him was due to his arrogance, wasn't it?) which is more powerful than Ion?
Though to be honest I guess you did say potentially.
