Ryan Reynolds is a dude. He's funny in his funny films and badass in Blade Trinity. Also he's my wife's favorite other man so I he's gotta be pretty cool.

EDIT: I don't know anything about the Green Lantern so I'm fully prepared for him to considered wrong for the role.

Playing 2 heroes in the same year? Isn't that going to cause confusion with regards to his image? =/

It seems that he would be a much much better Flash than a Green Lantern
Probably, actually

Ryan Reynolds? As Hal Jordan? That makes me a little sad, as I personally think he'd be a better Kyle. But I like him, and I like the Green Lantern, so here's hoping it'll be good.

Not perfect, he'd make a much better Wally West... though I suppose he won't be a BAD Hal Jordan, a cocky, snarky hero is almost accurate to early protrayals as the character.

Reactions to the announcement have been mixed, as some worry that Reynolds, who is mostly known for comedic roles, isn't a great fit for the role of the dignified and serious Hal Jordan. Personally, I prefer Kyle Rayner anyway.
He can deliver a serious role when he wants to. He was pretty good in the Amityville horror.

Yay, Ryan Reynolds <3
Not a great fan of Green Lantern, but I like any well-made comic book film (so I have my hopes up for this).

I'm just happy the Green Lantern is getting a movie, I hope they don't screw it up though.
from what i heard they are actually using Green Lantern: Secret Origin as the source material and a few other stories of the origin of Hal as the Green Lantern.

so one hopes that they won't mess it up, i think hope that DC has learned its lesson from the recent comic movies that did well by following the source of the comics

i think that Ryan Reynolds will do well as Hal, he's got the right mix of serious and smart ass and cocky that Hal has. i think he'll do great in the role as long as the script and director is good and they follow the source for the Green Lantern

Reynolds will play Hal Jordan, the Silver Age Green Lantern, and is the first person to star in movies based on both DC and Marvel titles.

...
Sorry, but he's not the first. Halle Berry played Storm in X-Men and the title role in Catwoman.... I know we'd all like to forget that the latter movie was ever made, but still...

thanks you ruined the years of therapy that i went thru for that :|

but you are correct, tho Mark Hamill was the one to do it before but he did it in cartoons rather than movies

Technically speaking, Halle Berry didn't star in the X-Men movies, she was part of an ensemble cast and very much a supporting character.

I really like Ryan Reynolds. The only thing I keep wondering, is why does he keep taking roles in a genre - comic book adaptation - that is greatly enjoyed by a group whom he had recently insulted - being us - gamers?

Well, don't tell her that! Just what is the "technical" definition of starring in a film, anyways? :p

Her picture and name appear on the posters for all three X-Men films, so I'd argue that she did star in all those movies...

Don't worry about it, this isn't the first time that I've "corrected" information presented in a story here and the reporter felt the need to defend his/her statements....

Yeah like thats not going to happen.
You have to be optimistic! Low expectations for the win.
that's a contradiction in terms.

Pessimists have low expectations.

Bradley Cooper definitely would have fit the role A LOT better than Reynolds. I don't think he'll convincingly be able to pull off such a serious role.
That and Green Lantern movie = Don't want. It's going to suck. Like, The Punisher suck... Sorry if that offends anyone (but why would it? honestly).
