Can't say really any sad enings, but in terms of scenes from a movie that was very sad was in "The Land Before Time" when Littlefoot's mother dies, especially considering I was only 5 years old at the time.

Funny, Planescape Torment comes to mind. The good ending (no spoilers in this thread, obviously) involves you being a good guy, convincing your mortality itself to merge with you (hence becoming mortal again - or are ya), resurrecting (properly) your friends - then going to hell to suffer for your crimes for the rest of eternity.
And it was still more bittersweet than sad.

Maybe... Lord of the Flies. That book was fucked up.
Edit: Scratch that, Cat's Cradle wins over absolutely everything else (that I know of).

This may sound pathetic, but there has been only two things that made me cry. One was the end of the movie of, "Bridge To Terabitheia", and the end of "Lilo and Stich 2". But at least I wasn't the only guy crying at the end of both so I felt slightly better.
ok im just gonna say this anyone who didnt cry watching "Bridge To Tarabitheia" is heatless or has serious problems. How anyone thought that was a kids movie is beyond me. lilo and stich not so much but then its a disney movie.

Once again I'll acknowledge that this has prolly been done many a times here but for my own curiosity I'm asking now because ppls opinions can change. I was watching the School Days and the last few episodes become all kinds of f*** up. With the climax of the whole story at the end I couldnt help but be overcome with sadness. So, what was the saddest ending u have seen.
What is really sad is that this guy played with their hearts and just prolly wanted tail.
You see, this is why I don't socialize with people! Because then I'll get stabbed in the back by a psychopathic maniac!

Well, that aside, the saddest ending I ever saw was... Actually, I can't really think of an ending that actually made me sad. I can think of endings that made me cry epic tears of manliness, but never "oh my god why did they do that baaaww" kind of tears.

I'm not trying to be macho here. I literally can't think of a single thing that made me sad. Sure, I've seen endings that are downright depressing, like how there was no real "good" ending to certain games, but... Eh, I'll find an ending that makes me sad one of these days! And when that day comes I will cry tears of sadness, instead of tears of manliness.

And my god, I sound like a Paper Mario character today. YOU DO NOT HAVE A MANLY ENOUGH MUSTACHE, SO YOU SHALL NOT PASS

Halo Reach....fuck I knew everyone was gonna die but holy fuck was I in tears by the end
Great way to end the Halo series though.

OT: FFX, the ending was very final. I felt that even FFX-2 did not even come close to the standard that FFX set (story wise).

Has anyone ever read "Silverwing"? The ending to the third book is so sad, first book I ever cried reading.

Even if it is a bit like sixth sense, that piano in the background is enough to almost bring me to tears. Good game, though. Controls are fidgety, but the story makes up for it.

With a book I have to go with "The Sight" by "David Clement Davies" ... I mean it had a kind of happy/sad/moral ending by the time it wrapped up but those last few chapters and events...

With games, i'm gonna have to go with FFX... shame they made X-2 to be honest, that ending was perfect as it stood (in my opinion at least)

Films, well Brokeback Mountain, All Dogs Go to Heaven and Dragonheart (another happy/sad one by the time it wrapped up)

And finally, I know its been the brunt of many jokes and parodies over the years, many people dont take it too seriously but have you ever seen a production of or read the script of "Romeo and Juliet"... seriously if you take a moment to take the story to heart and truely think about it, the ending is just tragic, when I went to see the royal shakespear company perform it, I was in tears.

I get fairly choked up every time I read the end of 1984, just something about how he thinks he won, but really is completely destroyed, and that the party definitely won kills me

Babylon 5. JMS turning the power to the main reactor shutting off the station before it is scuttled and Sheridan just... shutting down.

Also Rurouni Kenshin: Seisôhen/Samurai X:Reflections was brutal. The greatest warrior defeated by an invisible opponent (disease). The scene when Sano finds him and Kenshin is so far gone that doesn't recognize his best friend left me bawling.
