The martin luther king episode of the boondocks. im not black and i dont care what black culture does but i think King would be spinning in his grave if he saw what the largest portions of black culture have done to themselves, they all fall into religious or rapper morons. this is not the image i would have hoped for a race that pushed back from such pain to do with there freedom gained 50 short years ago.

seriously look at the famous african-americans just look at what there famous for. actually wait go to a high school or a just go up to a group of black kids and ask who nelson mandela is. Ill bet you anything they wont know.
im not black but hell i almost cried at the end of that episode because really its sad what a group that was once famous for breaking hundreds of years of racism, segregation, and general unfair behavior from the public mind is now damaging themselves to a degree that that hate might actually come back. race is not a motivator for behavior but for gods sake some shame would be nice.

Code Geass, tragic.
I agree, I just watched the last episode again today. I almost cried, given:
Nunally's reaction once Lelouch reveals the Zero Requiem, and that no one but her and Suzaku will know the truth.
im still going with the Lelouch is alive Thesus thats out there, because it makes sense.
Yeah, the ending does leave it open for that. I think the creators deliberately left it that way.

I was watching the School Days and the last few episodes become all kinds of f*** up. With the climax of the whole story at the end I couldnt help but be overcome with sadness.
this.

Apart from these, the ending to Evangelion (despite being all kinds of "off-my-meds" crazy) was so sad :( I'm surprised it hasn't come up yet :/
im sorry no. that ending was not sad. that ending was dragged out. they could have ended that series on the high school other dimension episode and it would have made sense and have been so much better than 'oh no my daddy hates me! wahhhh'. seriously evangelion was one of the worst animes ever made and people need to start looking into a good one. like Baccano!(no im not adding the exclamation point for fun thats the title of the show)

How is he an asshole when you came into the thread already knowing that The Road was already a depressing book from the beggining? OT: Fallout, the first one.

I dunno if the movie click had the saddest ending, they just buzzkill you steadily and then try and patch it up at the last second and it doesn't even matter.
Yeah I hated Adam Sandler for Click. My friend and I went to see that movie because we were both feeling really down, and thought Adam Sandler would be good for a laugh.

Nope, turns out it was not. I remember sitting in the theatre just wanting to reel away from it all because it was way too painful. Argh.

Very good movie but very torturous.

the amber spyglass book
it made me sick to my stomach with them condemning two major characters to an eternal imprisonment in an abyss where they will fall down for the rest of eternity, splitting up the romance sub plot two chapters after it has commenced

and this was just dissapointing, i REALLY wanted to here more about the huge war and all i got for a climax was the aformentioned two characters tackling the bad guy down the aformentioned Abyss very anticlimactic and left me saddened and dissapointed
Yeah, that ending was incredibly sad, not that that series had any joyful endings at all though.

I also think that the 5th and 6th Harry Potter books ended pretty sadly, nut that might just be me and the fact I was younger when I first read them.

Lufia II had a really sad ending and the way they made it sure it would have to tug on your heart strings was just evil.
Killing off 2 main characters that are married and have kids is one thing, but actually pointing out that their kid will be an orphan in a scene where the babysitter tells the kid his parents are coming soon is too much!

Tales of Phantasia was decent and gave you the feeling you shouldn't have done what you just did, and same with Eternal Sonata.

I know it's been said already, but I have to go with the Lone Wolf section of Halo Reach. It was just so depressing to have that feeling of a last stand that you can't possibly win.

The Ending of Grave of the Fireflies. It will make you shed manly tears.

Seriously. I've seen a lot of movies, and whenever someone asks me what is the saddest ending to a film I can think of this one ALWAYS SPRINGS TO MIND.

This, this, a thousand times this. That whole MOVIE was just one huge depressing piece of work.

Let me share with you the story of the first time I saw this movie. I was with my sister (my LITTLE sister, just so we're clear), and we were looking for a Studio Ghibli movie to pass the time. We'd already seen Spirited Away, Howls Moving Castle, etc, so we were looking for something new. And we found this.

So basically, I went into this movie expecting an uplifting, magical tale. GOOD. FREAKING. LORD. Seeing this movie is one thing, but seeing it while expecting a happy ending WHILE WATCHING IT WITH YOUR LITTLE SISTER (if you saw the movie, you'd understand why I'm stressing the little sister bit) is like clamping a vice on your soul and twisting it.

I seriously walked around in a depressed stupor for three days.

Well I cried, which makes it a sad ending. I know he's a whining little git, but it wasn't for HIM that I was sad...

This isn't really sad, but it is positive sort of sad.

The good ending to Another Code/Trace memory always chokes me up a bit. On the one hand D could move on with his life, on the other D was a good companion along the way. The combination of music and dialogue is just so well done.

It had some sad stuff all the way through really, but yeah, that last episode left me kinda depressed for a few days!

Red dead got me. I watched my brother play it and now i am running through it by myself.

also the ending of my innocence made me cry.

And the end of one of the star wars,(cant think which one) when Dvader dies.

WHY?

And the end of one of the halo novels, when John (chiefy) watches all of his fellow spartans miss the covenant ship they are space jumping to, and drift away, ultimately dieing.

i will return with more, I just can't remember it!
