Looks interesting, I hope it is a nice long campaign and doesnt show that it is an expansion pack turned full game
Eh, I think that is exactly what it will be. The graphics and gameplay (minus the super powers) look EXACTLY like Saints Row 3. While I don't mind, it just looks rushed as hell.

I really hope I am wrong, though.
you had superpowers in one of the DLC's (Super speed, strengh and energy blast)
not for long but you had them

Errr guys, its just a Saints Row 3 DLC repackaged as a full price game...

I mean look at it, same graphics, same engine, same city, same clothes, same everything, IT IS SR3, just with new content.
To you and everyone else claiming this, I think you've all forgotten something: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/114093-Bilson-I-Already-Know-Saints-Row-4-Will-Be-Wilder

So you all have it backwards. They didn't take a SR3 DLC and expand it into SR4, they took a SR3 DLC and used it to expand SR4. There's a difference.

As for the rest of your post; so what? The CoD MW trilogy ran on the same engine with the same graphics and no one complained. Same city? SR2 used SR1's city so it was bad too (this is ignoring the fact you are assuming because [i/]we don't know[/i] the game's setting yet). Same clothes? Clearly you didn't look close enough. The outfit the guy wears at the beginning is new. So are the pants the kung fu chick is wearing at :10. The gun at :13 and the one at :26 are new as well so I don't see how you can claim everything is the same when half the trailer was showing new stuff.

My cycle of thoughts in the trailer:
1. OOH! That looks cool!
2. Oh. That was in the previous game.
3. Hmm. I have my doubts. (then back to 1)

Yeah, I'm definitely not preordering this time.

Cautiously optimistic.

Not enough for a day one purchase but enough that I'll consider buying it.
I'm kinda worried that they just took the previously planned DLC and added more stuff to it.
Hence why I'm not planning to get it day one.
Yeah. It looks like fun. Unless it's absolute shit I'm going to buy it at some point. I LOVED saints row the 3rd. Beat it at 2 times so far and am working on a 3rd and 4th playthrough (different voice every time. It makes a surprisingly significant difference. Conversations are similar but save for story-essentials, often very different).

I share the fears of a smaller game, but what they do deliver will be worth the money surely. It's a great series and I'm glad to see more of it.

Well, don't mind if I do captcha.

Some of you guys like this? It looks like garbage!
Looks like? No my dear boy, it is garbage!

Saints Row's charm is that it's completely off the deep end, forget nuance and subtlety, this is a video game and it's going to behave like one! The controls and game play have always been very good, on a technical level they hold together very well.

Number 3 needed a longer campaign, it just sort of ends abruptly, but I still loved it. I can pinpoint the exact moment too, fourth mission, standing in a helicopter looking out across a neon skyline (which is strikingly pretty), then you jump out of it, parachute onto a penthouse flat and the Kanye West starts.

I don't even like the record that plays, but the tone is so over the top and it fits so perfectly it's impossible to not be having fun at that point.

That was the exact moment I realized how glorious the game I was playin was goin to be. I actually stopped and said, out loud, "NO FUCKING WAY!" Then laughed hysterically for at least 5 minutes while I did that mission. My girlfriend thought I was insane. She then continued to watch me play the game and commented on how ridiculously, absurdly, awesome it was. Yes, ridiculously absurdly awesome. She's an English major and the game got her to say that line.

If that isn't an indicator of greatness I dont know what is.

I'm lookin forward to it greatly. Definitely not a day 1 purchase unless the preorder bonuses are absolutely amazin because I'll be gettin it for PC and while the Saints Row the Third worked quite well at launch, it was still not super well optimized. Took a couple weeks to get all the major issues sorted out.

As to the "This is just Saints Row the Third!" arguments I say to you, so? The only complaint I had about Saints Row the Third was that I wanted more absolutely hilarious and fun stuff to do. If my only complaint is that I wish there was more of what I'm playin, I'll call that a good purchase.

I had wished that they would enhance the superpowers feature in SR3 but I guess they just opted to put the full version in 4....ah well. I can wait for that sale too.

I assume we'll be fighting STAG again and somehow be taking over America. I can't see any enemy gangs in this though. But a teaser is a teaser so I don't mind not seeing much. Just... go overboard if you want, but give us an emotional attachment to the characters. Seriously thats the most important thing to me. I trust everything else will be great.

I'm looking forward to this a lot. People can whine all they like about Saints Row 3 abandoning all sense of subtlety, but I really enjoyed it. It was kind of refreshing to see a game just throw caution to the wind and go all in with an idea - the idea in this case being pants-shitting lunacy. Roll on Saints Row 4.

**laughs**

I was all ready to be jaded about this, but the bit where they forgot the letter O amused me for some reason. ^^

Anyway, I kinda hope that they leave behind the previous characters and perhaps have some new Saints? A splinter group maybe? That'd be nice.

But it's probably the same people from before. Which is sad because they're getting kinda old. I think I was good on their story and would have liked to see some other protagonist claw her way up to the top.

Still, I'll totally be there, playing the game, even if the plot is stale as hell. It's just too fun to say no to.

**snicker** They forgot a letter. What's not to love?

I'm sitting on the fence on this one due to the disappointment that was SR3. Although i have to ask why not just have made this an expansion pack for SR3 and then spent a good 3 years on SR4 instead try to capture the spirit of the 2nd one?

I know I'm going to buy it day 1, just because Saints Row is my favorite franchise ever...
But I really am disappointed with this release trailer, no where near as epic as the trailer for Saints Row 3. Seriously it isn't that hard to make a trailer for Saints Row fans that would blow their minds. Just have Johnny Gat sitting in an arm chair sipping cognac and smoking a cigar, have him look up and ask "Did you miss me?". Bam, Saints Row IV. Done.

Seriously, I don't care how bizarre or madcap this is. It looks like fun. That's what matters.

There things I didnt like of SR3, but I thought it was an awesome game. Seeing as its going to be keeping the insanity (which, thinking about it, would have been hard not too), as long as it goes back to the gameplay of having fight against three seperate gangs (and not one gang thats pretending to be three) with the ability to destroy any of the three gangs in any order, and the side missions bits are not shit like in SR3, than BITCHEN!

I guess i'm going to have to go back and play Saints Row the Third again. I honestly can't remember if i liked how over the top it went or not.

Once again it annoys me to read that SR3 was met with "critical acclaim" like it was a great game.

And I don't think it's just my opinion. When you take the relative quality level of Saints Row 2 and match it with Saints Row 3, you'll see how lacking SR3 really is. How much it lost in so many areas for very little gain in a few others.

It's just decent in my opinion if you judge it alone. As a successor it falls very, very short.

Oh okay well looks like my hopes for the series trying to return to "SOME" elements that made SR2 good are mostly gone now :p.
I know that I shouldn't completely judge a game based on the first teaser but I just can help it.

I did like Saints row the third: Full package overall I guess (I found the original release to be incredibly bland and boring after the first 3 missions) but it just didn't hold a candle to SR2 but hey I've still got GTA V to look forward to if this falls through.

Speaking of which a release date of August 2013 hmmm hope there not just rushing it out the door to compete with GTA V considering the lack of content compared to SR1 & SR2 Saints Row 3 suffered from

Ehhhhh, these games have become so over-the-top I can't muster even a vague interest in this. Let me guess, it'll be more nudity, explosions and infantile humour slapped on truly godawful gameplay? Yep? Yep. Give this a miss.

I can't even access any pre-order material due to my internet situation, and that would still make me pre-order. He was the best charcter in the series, why did they kil him?
