You know, I think Shepherd's had enough loving. Could we maybe skip the romance options altogether this time and focus all our hopes on it not being a let-down?

I didn't even know that Mass Effect was purely heterosexual, although it is nice to see that it is expanding for a wider audience.
Although I feel like if the relationship dialogue is anywhere similar to Dragon Age 2's, homophobes are going to be all up in arms about it.
I think that's why he's put the "reactive" part in. The problem in DA2 was not so much that they were gay but that the gay characters jumped you for no reason and then got pissy when you told they you were only really into the opposite sex. I think he means that you'll need to initiate the romance yourself.
i did notice that especially with anders, i think its great they are accounting for more than just hetero's but when it jumps out of the page at me i'm a little iffy at it, especially when it had that negative aspect to it.

OT: me3 is looking better and better all the time

Will I finally be able to achieve my dream of having a Liara/Garrus/Tali 4 way?

My fingers are crossed.
Tali would die, in like, five seconds.
Meh, Personally I'd be fine with Tali leaving her suit on for that kind of action.

This is good to hear, but seeing as how the other games had exclusively been hetero based in relationships, Bioware better make this new possibility of Shepperd being Homosexual or Bisexual seem natural.
I was thinking the same, because if it's shoehorned in and he just decides he wants to bum Garrus, it kind of implies the stupid notion that sexuality is a choice.

It never ceases to amaze me how riled up people get at the merest mention of sex and/or homosexuality. It's 2011. Aren't we supposed to be okay with this stuff by now?

*sigh*

Anyway, I have no problem with this. I see nothing wrong with throwing the heterosexual norm out the window. And I won't particularly mind if Garrus suddenly get curious about the reach of human males.

Besides, both my Shepards have already made their choice and I am nothing if not loyal. No amount of hot gay Krogan action is going to drag them away from Liara and Jack respectively.

Sorry Grunt. It just wasn't going to work.

I've always kind of wondered why they don't just make certain characters romance-able and be done with it. The NPC's orientation has no bearing on the game anyways so what does it matter if your male Shepard wants some serious bromance from Kaidan, or your female Shepard wants to get frisky with Miranda? Seems to me like that would be easier for them anyways.

If they really want to add it, they can do what they want, but I do have to say it feels a bit cheap considering Bioware's original reasoning for why it was largely excluded previously.

It makes it feel more like someone decided they needed the game to close in on the homosexual market as well.

I mean, honestly, does the whole sex subplot really add anything to the game? It feels kind of like a lazy addition from the get-go because it's something you'll genuinely stumble upon provided you visit the right characters after every primary mission and then proceed to say anything that isn't offensive and / or rude.

Well it doesn't matter to me, my Male Shepard will stay with Ashley since I made sure I stayed faithful to her through part 2

i wouldn't get your hopes up on your shep having a same sex relationship as hudson also announced that there will be no new romance options

No new romance options, mayhaps. But I'm guessing we'll see BioWare expand on previously established characters.

I'm all for it. I've found the sexual politics of Mass Effect quite problematic this whole time (i.e lesbianism, if not publically recognised, is okay; male homosexuality is not) so to see them rectify that hypocrisy is a very encouraging thing indeed.

I know some people will object to previous characters being "retconned" or whatever the popular term is, but as far as I know, as long as any one person haven't explicitly stated that they are only into men or women respectively, there's always an ambiguity there to be explored.

@CaseyDHudson You also said that there is no new love interests in ME3. So suddenly Kaiden is back to being gay and other characters? Uh-oh.
Reply: Casey Hudson
@TheDdevil I'm confident that our writing team will handle LI's in #ME3 with sophistication and preserve character continuity.

Yeah I bet.Watch them screw this up.So was Kaiden a closet homosexual this whole time?Does Ashely's racism stem from her frustration of being in the closet too? This can go wrong in so many ways.It will take some kinda crazy writing to pull off.

Perhaps not, have some damn faith in the creators. I'm getting so sick of people always expecting the worst of the worst for no reason. It's so arrogant to think you have more knowhow to handle things.

I pretty sure I never said anything about how to handle things.I also have the utmost respect for Bioware as I have never played a bad game made by them.It will also take some very clever writing to pull this off.Remember these characters are all established.

As for me being arrogant,I simply wouldn't have changed anything. Why? Because nothing was wrong with it to start with.Let people dream of there gay fantasy's with their ME characters all they want but don't screw up pre established characters just to pander to a few fans.

im not saying its a bad thing, heck i think it shows that the media is maturing and im all for it, (i have a gay friend who plays as a femshep so he can cudle up to garrus, poor bastard)
i was simply stating so that homosexuals dont get their hopes up on bedding kaiden in the final game with a male shepard

Ah. Sorry, I misinterpreted your post.
My bad!

I think you're right. It's probably best to maintain a healthy detachment from it all before we get some solid information as to for whom this will apply.

Can't wait to love up legion
...Actually, I'd be disappointed if that were possible. Just because they're sentient doesn't mean they have the same biological urges. Reproduction to a geth probably means copying lines of code or starting a new document. Even if they're learning and developing emotions, romance would just be implausible to me.

Plus there's more than a thousand active programs in Legion. Wouldn't a relationship with him be almost like getting gang banged or something?

Intresting. I also hope they allow you to not fall in love with someone, cause i play Mass Effect for the game not alien appendages.

And what I meant was that I believe the team is clever enough to pull off that writing you speak of. And those characters are as established as BioWare has established them so far, but check out my next post with a new tweet.

I'm not gonna comment on you second statement. I guess I'm just more trusting (about not screwing up) and positive (by not assuming it's gonna be screwed up before it has been made) than you are.

Some game sites saying "previously straight chars now available for both m&f chars" not necessarily true. Will have some new LI's in #ME3
