Sarcasm Mark: Stop using Sarcasm Tags!

OT: I think its more confusing, not to mention you have to pay to use it (according to the Metro paper) and how on earth can you put that symbol onto email and things unless you have to download some sort of toolbar link.

In the article it says you have to push the Strg + the Full Stop button to put it in your e-mail.

Fair enough. Still, im not sure its worth it. i prefer just doing this *sarcastic remark* or just not bothering at all. Then again, since i don't email people anymore besides the teachers, which i doubt its a good idea to use sarcasm for them, i wouldnt need it anyway.

There've been plenty of times when someone invented a sarcasm mark or something like it. I know of a Dutch linguisticist who tried to get an irony mark through in the form of a crooked exclamation mark. I think it's all a bit redundant when you have smileys eminently suited for the purpose.

Sarcasm can be conveyed quite easily through the use of italics and such like, and the good old simple /sarcasm.
