Say, do you hate your supporters?

Yes, the question is a tad ambiguous, but as i drift from experience to experience, i find myself hating myself.

And by that i mean the people who believe the same "MESSAGE" that i do, but are so bad at representing it that i wish they just never spoke. My example of this is Christianity, and there are a ton of other things in this world that YOU believe, and yet are furious at the wing nuts who also share your passion. Abortion, gay rights, racism, religion. It can be anything, anything that you support but vehemently hate other supporters for supporting. The people who abandon reason and intelligence and rationale for blind following. The ones that make your entire movement look bad when they gain attention from the public eye.

So, who are you, and why do you hate "yourself"?

That's rather dumb.
Your not understanding. Like Muslims who hate terrorists, or anti abortionists who hate abortion center bombers, or christains who hate people who hold sings that say "God hates Fags!"
What do you believe in, and what kind of fellow supporters infuriate you?

I'm not really that opinionated. Fact is, I just don't give two shits and let people do whatever and stuff. Notice how hard I'm trying to keep this sentence coherent as you read this...whoever 'you' might be.

Oh sorry.

Yeah, I hate Buddhists (Yes, I begrudgingly am one) who tell all other buddhists to become vegetarians and stuff. It's just our choice.

I don't really like drugs, but I dislike all the people who are really up themselves about it, who act like anyone who takes them is some lowlife who won't get anywhere.

Sure, some don't, but others only do it occasionally to enjoy themselves, it's their choice.

That's really the only example I can think of.

Although I agree with this also. Extremes on both sides of something are as annoying as each other.

Really? I don't listen to a lot of Dawkins, but he's so articulate, respectful, and wellspoken. He is also a decent philosopher. Dennett borrows heavilly on, and builds from, Dawkins' work. I think he just gets a bad rap because he's become somewhat of a poster boy for strong atheism.

Listen to the man. http://www.ted.com/talks/richard_dawkins_on_militant_atheism.html He's great. I can't see why people would have a problem with him as a person.

I'm not a fan of people who're on my side, in any debate, but use fallacy-ridden arguments. You're only giving the other side more credibility with faulty, knee-jerk logic.

I'm a pothead but I hate people that look down upon straight edge people thinking they're immature kids for not trying their drug. Not everyone likes what you like, dipshit. Respect their choice then maybe they'll respect ours. Also, I'm fairly conservative in that I don't like the idea of the government having a big role in the lives of its citizens, but there are so many people that call themselves conservative that simultaneously believe in keeping government out of the hair of big business, but allowing it to stop people from having abortions or enjoying their drug of choice. It feels like they just give conservatives in general a bad name.

I was about to bring up straight edge. Being edge (and having been for almost 8 years) I can't go more than a few days without being hassled for my life's choices. I think that people see me having just as good of a time as they at parties and it offends them for some reason. I've gotten into fights because of this that aren't even my fault. I'm just at a party and some bruiser comes up and says something along the lines of, "You too good to drink with the rest of us, what the fuck?" or "I don't trust a man who doesn't drink."

I don't get it. I'm obviously not too good to hang out with you while you drink so maybe it's not me who has the problem? It's not as bad when I'm at punk/hardcore parties where people understand it but when I was in a death metal band, being at bars and parties with metalheads I got a ton of shit for it.

And yes, some straight edge kids (Dayton, OH / Syracuse, NY / Salt Lake City, UT I'm looking at you) really give the rest a bad name. But the hardliners burn out faster than anyone else. But mostly, it's people who don't understand that it's a personal choice, not some anti-alcohol/drug/sex movement hellbent on taking away your freedoms.

Hey man, I'm a drinker and a smoker, and I dabbled in drugs years ago, but if I'm at a party and somebody starts giving my staight edge buddy a hard time for NOT drinking, I'm the bruiser that stands behind the straight edge. Why give somebody crap for a choice they make when it comes to lifestyle choices? You treat me with respect, no matter what group you associate with, I'll be respectful in kind.

I like Dawkins, but the one I have trouble with is Christopher Hitchens. He just seems a tad bit...zealous, even if I agree with what he says most of the time.
