The fact that they are over. Throw in that George Lucas actually will have to write a somewhat legitimate plot for the episodes 7-9 and we can hope that these get lost in the annals of history.

Darth Maul is the most br00tal dude in all of Star Wars. He LET himself get cut in half just for shits.

I liked... the space ships? And the podracing was fun too. Boyish nostalgia tells me I like the movies but since becoming a student of film... Yeah, these movies suck.

I enjoyed chunks of the movies here and there. The battle droids in Episode 1, while still incompetent, were still cool enough for me. When I had that movie on VHS I'd fast forward for the big deployment/battle scene just to watch the battle droids kick gungan arse.

General Grevious had so much potential, but I guess they just needed a one-movie villain. I kind of wish they had somehow introduced him earlier...
Um, the battle droids are supposed to be incompetent and slow. The idea is that while the droids can be mass produced, and are vastly superior to the Clone Troops in number, the Troops are far superior fighters. Its supposed to be a major reason why there are no battle droids in the Original Star Wars trilogy.
I...never said otherwise? o_O

I said, "while still incompetent, were still cool enough for me", aka, despite their lack of ability I still saw them as cool. The skeletal design, the creepy uniformity of their movements at times. If anything they were still a valid military idea, much like how for the Soviet Union, ramming enemy tanks with cheaper tanks worked at times. :p

Episode 3 was annoying in multiple ways, but the first really big 'wtf' moment for me was when they completely tossed out battle droids even TRYING to be threatening. Just because they're mass produced, low quality war machines doesn't mean they're not WAR MACHINES. CARTOONY VOICES ARE ABSURD. BLARGH!

They had potential and they had some good ideas. Shifting the story from Mythic Space Opera to Cosmic Sword and Sandal Epic could've made for a really good story. Also, they had a good villain in the form of Darth Maul, who served well as a Proto-Darth Vader. Ewan McGregor did a good job playing a young Obi-Wan and seeing the Jedi Order in full swing was pretty awesome.

With a few re-writes and fewer nods to the original trilogy (we did not need C3PO and Bobba Fett is still the most over-rated character in the series) it could've stood a chance.

They made up an interesting and well devised story that did nothing but add to the magnificence of the originals, coupled with brilliant music, large scale battle sequences, amazingly choreographed lightsaber duels and good acting

Even if you hate the prequels, there is a bright side. The prequels game us Star Wars: Republic Commando.

The music, the visual design, every second Ewan McGregor was on screen (that guy is awesome), every single fight-scene (wether they be dogfights, blaster-duels, lightsaber duels or plain force duels). The story is OK too.

Oh did I mention John Williams' music was awesome?

As some people have pointed out Natalie Portman. Also Darth Maul was pretty cool (well until he got cut in half, getting cut in half is so not cool).

I think the only really redeeming thing I found about them though is watching Anakin's decent into madness. Sure it could have been done better but after re-watching the films back to back that was the only thing that really stuck out to me.

Good music, cool lightsaber fights, some excellent visual design and FAR more variation in locals than the OT. Also the CGI was (and in some places, still is) excellent.

Plus, Liam Neeson and Ewan MacGregor as Jedi. Say what you will about the rest of the characters or casting, but those were some great choices.
I am seriously willing to excuse the re-release of episode one because of Liam Neeson. And that is the only reason.

There are so many wrong things in the prequels I could talk about them for hours.....so I'll just let Mr Plinket talk for me instead.

If you've never seen the Redlettermedia.com Star Wars reviews.....well, have you been living under a rock? They are brilliant and VERY funny. The Yatzhee of movies.

Qui Gon Jinn is the sexiest Jedi ever.

But everyone always focused on Obi-Wan Kenobi as being cool and all that. And sure, he was more talented. But what happened to Qi Gon was devastating. I was so sad at the end of the first movie. Aside from the last battle of Luke versus his father, I don't think I've ever been so emotional in a Star Wars movie.

Oh Qui Gon, I'll always miss you. And you're still my favourite Jedi. I haven't discovered any others I like more, actually. Then again, I'm not knee deep into the Star Wars fandom. It's massive and overwhelming.

I'm usually into androgyny, but this is definitely my idea of a sexy manly man.

Not that "hugely overmuscular meathead" thing. Western gamers say they love manly men, so what do they all look like bodybuilders in their twenties? Now that's a "manly" man who looks incredibly sexy, in my opinion. Much better than those stupid meatheads.
