Is that indeed how it works?Desert Punk said:Apparently you have no idea about how it works.VanQ said:I saved $499USD plus postage by deciding not to buy it. That's a positive thing, right?
What exactly is stopping you from sharing your disc with your family right now? There's nothing positive about a 10 person limit being added.mysecondlife said:Family sharing thing sounds promising.
Reminds me of similar functionality for Zune.
...which nobody uses because nobody buys those fucking things.
What you do is add ten people to your family list, these can be anyone, friends, brother, parents ect. Anyone, they dont even need to live near you.
From there any game you buy and attach to your account is loaded into a pool, anyone on your list no matter how far away can look at your games and install one of them on their xbox and play it so long as you arent playing it at the same time.
This allows friends and family members to build up a large library together, or for a friend who has a good paying job and can afford to buy games brand new can help our a less fortunate friend as he cvan go through the more fortunate ones library and play games he couldnt pick up himself.
Personally this is the feature that excites me the most. Even if the Xbone fails spectacularly I would love to see this kind of feature implemented on PC and other consoles.
Ahhh that would make sense then. I really didn't see how the check could have been for piracy, as that's more in the PC realm.Desert Punk said:Yep, thats how it works. Thats one of the reasons that it does the 1 every 24 hour online check, so that their servers can tell the consoles who has the lisence to any particular game, so if you resell a game naturally its removed from the pool and no one on the list can access it anymore.piinyouri said:Is that indeed how it works?
If so then yeah, that's definitely one thing the console has going for it.
Basically it's similar to loaning a game to someone in real life, but you can loan it for impossibly large and small amounts of time because it's always there as long as it's not being already played.(not a good description I know, I can't think of how to put it).
Of course the catch is for this system to work everything must be digital, which will be a pro or con to different people.
Would be kind of cool if Sony brought in something similar later on in the PS4's life.
What if you have more than 10 friends? I can totally see friendships end because of this feature...Aris Khandr said:Shared library. I am not sure why this isn't getting more attention.
You have Steam, I presume. You know how the library works, you buy games via Steam or enter the CD key, and they're in your library forever. No more CDs, just download and play. XB1 has the same feature. Only in addition to your personal library, you can share your library with up to 10 friends. Those 10 friends can download and play whatever games you have bought, and you can download and play theirs. The caveat on all of this is that only the owner and one friend can play the game at the same time, but still. Ignore the "PS4 sharing video", this kicks that right in the teeth. Not only do you not need to hand your friend the disc, but simply by virtue of owning a game, you can always have a friend hop in for multiplayer with you.
Or possibly, "WTF man, I was really enjoying that game, why'd you sell it? T_T"Elamdri said:What if you have more than 10 friends? I can totally see friendships end because of this feature...Aris Khandr said:Shared library. I am not sure why this isn't getting more attention.

"WHAT?! I'm not in your 10? WTF JIMMY?! We're DONE bro!"
agreed, it's a good concept. However it's done in by the rest of the console being so anti-consumer that I'm afraid the console is full of piranha and syphilis.Desert Punk said:Apparently you have no idea about how it works.VanQ said:I saved $499USD plus postage by deciding not to buy it. It was my understanding that the owner and one "guest" could play the game at any time. Is that not the case? Makes it slightly less useful, but only slightly.Desert Punk said:From there any game you buy and attach to your account is loaded into a pool, anyone on your list no matter how far away can look at your games and install one of them on their xbox and play it so long as you arent playing it at the same time.
