The Prisoner in Silent Hill 2. Walked past it the first time and it creeped the fuck out of me.

Almost anything from Silent Hill. Even the thought of Walter being a few meters behind you (and you even hear his laugh and footsteps) creeps the hell out of me... But P-Head takes the cake, he gave me so many nightmares.

All the realy big dinosaurs in Turok, especially the T-rex, the first time it notices you and heads towards you I just thought "Aw shit.", and was then swiftly eaten.

Fast zombies from HL2.

Pretty much anything from any game (including other people who get the drop on me) can make me jump, nothing has really terrified me.

This is gonna sound pathetic. Laugh all you want, folks. Maybe it'll put a smile on your face.
The first game I ever bought, instead of borrowed, was Donkey Kong 64-- and I was a wee thing when the N64 was prime. So when I stumbled into that pyramid in the Angry Aztec level, a gravelly voice hissed a warning, and a crosshair landed on Diddy...
Good lord. I know it's ridiculous, but I shook like a leaf and panicked. I think Kong died long before I found my way to the exit.

As a fan of the horror genre, these days, I can't think of an in-game event or character who scared me more.

Quake 2, I was about 12 at the time. One of the enimies who was a head, in a robot suit! With a drill and I guess some sort of machine gun arm? Well I was walking around and this thing jumped out and scared the living daylights out of me! They also made a weird noise as well!

I would have to say The Butcher from Diablo...my palms were sweating the first time I fought him. Second would be the Hammer Haunts and Ghosts from Thief I and II (especially the ghosts in Gervasius' library)...and then the crab-men from Thief I...and the greasels from Deus Ex that attack you when you're sneaking through ventilation systems...damn them.

Good question...

Alien Vs Predator 2 had it's fair share of "I just crapped me pants" moments, namely the first time you see the lasers of a Predator hit the ground in front of you, and hearing that clicking sound, or even the part at the start when playing as a marine where a pipe falls through the ceiling. First time that happened I emptied an entire clip at (whilst squirming backwards in my chair) it before realising that it was just a pipe. Classic tension.

Those junkies in the first condemned, the first time that I played that game I jumped back so quickly that I hit my head on the back of my chair.

Those blood creature things in condemned 2.you always know where they're going to appear because of that stuff on the walls, but then they come from behind you and freakin kill you.
They die in one hit, but they still scare the shit out of me. plus they're fast

Those poison headcrabs in Half-Life 2. Specifically, that hissing noise they make. You know how it is, you stumble into a dark corner, looking for medkits and ammo, and you hear this...thing hissing at you. It's dark, you can't see ****, and you just immediately take out your shotgun and start firing at random, hoping you'll hit it before it hits you.

...Or maybe that's just me.

The Chimera for Resistance. The way they practically swarmed all over you and attacked in droves. They were even worse when they got close up and even looked scary when they were dead.

The Miniblins in Wind Waker. I don't know what it was about them particularly, but man they absolutely terrified me.

Just the "Dini, dini" noise and then the frantic swinging the camera around all like WHERE ARE THEY and then suddenly there'd be like twenty of them all up in yo' grill.
Is that what those things were called? They scared the **** outta me.and the giant squid things out at sea.

but other than that,Gannon.

The 1st time a monster popped out in the Suffering, I jumped about 3 feet in the air and my wife fell off the couch. The little Girl from Fear, and the black spots on the floor that suck you down from Extraction Point.
I don't think it's so much the monster as the eviroment. In the GOOD horror games they set you up, the quiet sounds, the dark, it's quiet, too quiet, you know it's comming, you tense up, your heartrate climbs, and then WHAM, out it pops or scuttles, and suddenly it's in your face! You jump and a ICE COLD shot of adrealine hits your heart, you have to KILL IT AND KILL NOW! And when you do God do you feel ALIVE>
Thank you!Someone else knows the secret that most game companies can't FRICKIN figure out.
