Guess no one played Demon's Souls. Tower of Latria was CREEPY... Mindflayers were great sounding creepy monsters, but those crab looking things with human heads are the weirdest looking enemies... Skeeves me the hell out...
I remember trying to do that level alone. Words cannot describe the things that level did to me. And the second part of it, too. And the second part of the last world. You know, the huge swamp with TWO GIANT GOBLINS RIGHT NEXT TO EACH OTHER. I never want to fight them ever again. Ever.
Did you get teh Istarelle spear(I spellled that wrong proly)?A
i was walking along in pure black tendency, telling my friend how 4 or 5 of those giant depraved ones would make for an excellent boss fight.
Then i found this ladder....
It led to 4 giantdepraved ones guarding the spear.
I was like "fuuuuuuuuuuuuu!"

OT: Um, once in Oblivion, whilst doing my thing of not completing the main quest and getting sidetracked by very little thing. I happened across this old fort.
I ventured inside, to find zombies, ghosts, etc. Nothing too scary. But then I cam to a door. I went through.
I found my self standing on the narrowest path ever(like 1ft across)
At teh far end was a light.
All around me was stars, millions and millions of stars. And below me was a bottomless drop. In the mddle of the enormous room was a single cloaked figure.
I have, to this day, never been able to work up the courage to go up to that person.

Any underground place in Fallout 3. Seriously, chance is you will end up finding Mirelurks or Feral ghouls, and no option is nice.

Istarelle can suck it, I roll with the Dozer Axe. I just killed them with arrows. Also, what's up with that Oblivion fort? It sounds really cool. You should talk to the cloaked figure.

I considered Bloodline to be lightly horror, so I wouldn't say the Hotel.
I haven't played Thief
Ravenholm wasn't scary at all. It was annoying. The zombies were loud, shambling targets that had a distinct weakness to fire and the head crabs were just fucking bats with flea jump ability instead of wings.
The Flood didn't really scare me.

As far as non horror goes, I would say Fallout 3 had a bunch of claustrophobic areas. I hated the vaults because they were so easy to get lost in, and underground with no sound, no company, and just a bunch of identical hallways made it all just nerve wracking. I wanted out.

The asylum from WaW was good. Again, it was that feeling of isolation. The dripping water didn't help either. Nazi Zombies was actually one of the more creepy zombie games I've played. Most zombies announce their presence, but those zombies were dead silent until you turned around to see five about to grab you.

In general, I have a problem with games that have a path so rigidly set that if you miss a turn, you end up walking down lots of empty hallways with no sound at all. That shit is disturbing.

I have to go with Ravenholm here, certainly was a scary environment to experience.
