I went to see the Expendables. It was ridiculously fun to watch, and i did laugh at some of it. Scott Pilgrim from the first trailer i saw for it looked... just plain aggravating. And I have already had one major comic book related disappointment this year (Kickass wasn't that great to me, especially since i read the series the night before i saw the movie. It did get me to notice the series i'll admit, so that is a redeeming factor), and i can't stand Michael Cera.

I loved Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz though, so I will probably end up renting it.

Wow. A lot of Scott Pilgrim haters here. I hope it's just aimed at the film though, because the books are my favourite comic series ever.

Anyway, I don't give a fuck what you guys think, I'm seeing the film day 1 in the UK. [small]I don't mind Cera[/small].

It's expected. I mean really, of course the Expendables made more money. At least Scott Pilgrim doesn't need a sequel.

Well, I saw it, and enjoyed it a lot. Just sad they didn't say the damn Monkey Island reference from Volume 2!

Also, what the hell is with the sudden Cera hate? Literally everyone liked him pretty much last year, but now everyone is bitching because he's an awkward teen. I don't get it.

It's veeery different from the comics. After the first volume, it veers off wildly.

Yeah, Scott Pilgrim will release later on pretty much the whole world, and The Expendables was released everywhere at the same day, so SP will have less competition on the opening worldwide.

I stand by my belief that Scott Pilgrim was the second best film this year after Inception, but honestly I'm not surprised. A movie full of retro video game references based off a small-time graphic novel doesn't really stand a chance against a movie with every action star ever in it, regardless of how awesome the former is and how terrible the latter.

I don't care though, I mark it as another success in Edgar Wright's perfect record. It was so great.
The lack of Samuel Jackson automatically renders the main selling point of The Expendables invalid.

I think we should all go see Scott Pilgrim. Right now.

Plus, as I've said: People are drugged monkeys who are easily entertained by random flashing coloured lights. That's the main reason The Expendables has made money at all.
Yeah cause Scott Pilgrim isn't totally some crazy mind fuck with over the top fights, flashy colors, and stupid game references. I mean, the Expendables can't be much better, but it's still gotta be better than Scott Pilgrim.

I just finished reading Scott's Vol. 6 and I really have to say this:
Stephen Stills is gay!

As for the OT, I don't plan on seeing The Expendables until they apologize.
What? That happened all the way back in volume 3.
I really don't remember that.
Well that's what he said. And looking back, I can now see moments where he's referred to like that.
He said volume 5. Stephen Stills said he didn't tell Scott because it seemed like Scott had a lot going on.

Failing to see how this is a big deal (or much of a supprise).

Like.. Holy shit, people want to see action movie more than a movie based on a comic book full of geen humour.

Scott Pilgrim is really a movie just for people who are into Games or Comics, a lot of the jokes would fall short for anyone who isn't in touch with these things. On the other side, The Expendables is a movie for people who like an all star action cast blowing shit up and being awesome.

Not to mention the fact that Scott Pilgrim making less money does in no way make it any less of an amazing film, and one of my all time favs.

What shocked and got me p-jarated is that Eat. Pray. Love. (or Eat. Pray. ZZZZZZZZZZzzzz. to anybody that actually seen it) got over twice what Scott did. HOW DID THAT HAPPEN?
Eat. Pray. Zzzzzzzzz. is based off of a well-known book. Scott Pilgrim on the other hand is based off a series of books that barely anybody has read. Oh yeah, and because soccer moms and wannabe-philosophicals gobble that shit up.
True :(

Scott Pilgrim looked stupid to me, and Moviebob's review didn't change that opinion. I don't like the comics, and I won't like this any more. Expendables...meh. If I were to go see a movie right now, I'd go catch Inception again, heh.

Ugh... what a shame... I think it was even beaten by Eat Pray Love as well...

Whatever, hopefully this means it will go down as a cult classic? I don't care if the majority of movie goers (the same movie goers who gave Transformers 2 $800 million, mind you) were too stupid to not recognize a good movie like that. I hate that people didn't go see it because it was truly excellent and one of the best movies to come out this year; it was even better than Inception.

See, I thought Scott Pilgrim was going to do really well because nearly all of my friends were chomping at the bit to see it.

Then I realized that nearly all of my friends are also geeks, unlike the rest of the world.

Yeah I already corrected that some time ago, but after the other person hit the quote button.

I saw Scott Pilgrim. Twice. I love this movie. I wish it had done better since then more people would read the comics. I really want this to do better next week. I'm even gonna see it again since I really liked this movie. I'm gonna tell a lot of my friends to see this movie since it's awesome.

This really isn't all because of The Expendables, Pilgrim was MASSIVE flop. It made less than Inception in it's 5th week, and lost to The Other Guys in it's second week, as well as the Julia Roberts movie on it's opening week.

Actually looking at those numbers, is it really that bad? The only thing they ensure is that there won't be a sequel and we don't want a sequel anyway do we?

Besides, I bet Terry Gilliam would kill for success like that.
...Y- yes. Those numbers are very bad! 10 million to produce and 10 million weekend!? Thats BAD. And its a shame too.
For the people who funded it maybbe but for us? It won't harm the film in any way and as I've pointed out It won't stop cool and unique films being made. It just means those films won't be Scott Pilgrim clones. And that's a good thing in my book.
I know you probably know, but thats a typo, 60 million to produce, raked in 10.

Hmm, I thought you said 5. But saw this post and thought I just read the original wrong.
