Scott Pilgrim gets dominated.

Am I the only one on the planet who doesn't have a burning hatred for Michael Cera? It may just be because the only other things I've ever seen him in are Arrested Development and Juno, but I just never understood the flak he gets. Plus, I think he grasped Scott Pilgrim pretty well.

In any case, both movies seemed interesting to me, but being a fan of Scott Pilgrim pre-movie as well as Edgar Wright, I obviously saw SPvTW first, and I enjoyed it a lot. I heard Expendables was dumb but I may see it for sake of novelty anyway.

Scott pilgrim is the best movie ive seen this year(along with inception) I saw it opening day awsome. Its only been 3 days give it awhile once people see the amazing reviews it gets itll increase.

I saw both and I enjoyed The Expendables more then I did Scott Pilgrim, it was still a good movie, just not as good. So if I had to pick only one to see it would be the movie with the auto-shotgun that makes shit explode!

Like Kick Ass and Watchmen, Scott Pilgrim will do well mainly from DVD and Blu Ray sales, also there is a chance it could do well in other countries I mean it doesnt even hit the UK until August 25th

I just saw Scott Pilgrim and I liked it a lot. I don't like Micheal Cera, nor do I think it's a big deal that he is in this movie. Main reason (Just as Movie Bob said) you don't have to like him. Scott is kinda a jerk.

Opening day nothing, I knew next to nothing about this Scott Pilgrim stuff, but all my favorite places are raving about it, and now it's a must-see for me. Soon...very soon. As soon as I go to a town with an actual cinema...

I don't hate him, I just don't like him in a lot of things. However, I thought he was PERFECT in Scott Pilgrim.

The movie itself was awesome, and this is coming from someone who's only seen it and the trailers, never read the comics. I may be part of a niche audience, but I loved the movie.

Saw both. "The Expendables" is a better film. I hate to say it, but it's true.

That said, I'm not a fan, in any way shape or form, of O'Malley's comic, finsing almost all of it too insanely "hipster" and hep for its own good, and hating all the chracters with a passion, that said, "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World" is a good movie. It has all of the comedic appeal that Wright is familiar with along with a wonderful cast and great sense of ignoring most of the things I hate about the comic (namely everything) in an attempt to tell a proper love-story with a clever use of metaphorical boss-fights and ridiculous situations to make it a stand-out comedy and excellent film.
"The Expendables" is, damned near, the perfect action movie, finally giving film-geeks like me something that we can really get behind in the form of a mash-up of some of the greatest action-stars of all time making a movie that is driven solely to showcase them in all their splendor as we see these men do what they do best in the format that best suits them all, made by one of the most talented action-directors of all time. It's a beutiful swan-song that, much like "SPVTW" will not be TRULY understood by anyone outside of its core-demographic (the people that didn't need to look up ANY of the actors featured, more or less), but both are great movies, in the purist sense.

Edgar Wright needs to get back to finishing the fucking "Blood and Ice Cream" trilogy, though.

Scott Pilgrim hasn't opened in the UK yet, but I'd imagine it'll do well seeing as it's directed by Edgar Wright, who wrote and directed Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz. And those two are British classics.

If it isn't good, I plan to chase Edgar Wright around the garden with a bit of wood.

This news saddens me. The Expendables hasn't gained my praise, even from an 80s action movie homage stand point. From what I can gather, your much better off just watching those movies.

M. Night Shyamalan was considered good at one point too. I love Shaun of the dead and Hot fuzz, lets just hope this technicolour vomit is a minor trip on his otherwise stellar career.

Really, I was expecting this to happen. If an audience got to choose either bad-ass muscular men and blood or an action comedy made for video game, anime and comic book fans, most would go to the blood fest.

It's image and street credibility, and even if it was written by Stallone, people would see it.

So, I'm gonna go to the cinema, watch it and enjoy it. Possibly buy the DVD when it comes out, but enjoy the ride while it goes.

I could point out a couple reviews or just point one big angry finger at the 80% on Rotten Tomatoes, or I could just keep banging my head against a wall until my mind excepts your ignorance *ponders*

Yay lets all go see the expendebles. which will probably be dragged down by some truly terrible cast choices. when there shoving randy coutoure and steve austin in a movie you can tell there just ringing money out of every corner they can find

really the public opinion can't be held as a benchmark for how good a film is.

Put it this way. transformers 2 grossed more then inception

Avatar is a prime example of what is going on. people want to see as much bang for their buck as possible. However if you get past all the special effects and everything else what your left with is a dry product. It baffles me that people don't want to think when they go to the thetre.

District nine and inception were both ferared to be to intellegent for public audiance. I itch to see somthing "Too intelligent" I want to be challenged mentally. while the average movie goes just wants to sit in a thetre and watch nothing

I'm not a snob or a hipster but forgive me if i want to go see a movie attempting to be diffrent and continue the long overdue adaptation of smaller gem graphic novels. while mannaging the monumental task of hashing a narritive out of what amounts to video game refrences, rather then an obvoius cash in

Jeez, this thread is really starting to make some of you guys seem like a bunch of assholes. It's ridiculous! I have not seen either film and I doubt once I have that I will call them "vomit". Just because you want to watch the expendables, it doesn't make you an adrenaline induced asshole and just because you want to watch Scott Pilgrim doesn't make you a hipster asshole, but if you start talking crap about the other film just because it's not your "thing" THAT makes you a hipster/adrenaline induced asshole. There's my opinion ( like anyone cares ).

It's going to do better on DVD. I think there target audience would rather watch a DVD then go to the theater.
