Hmm i don't know glorified murder sprees is okay in video games but this is kind of stretching it.

Actually $17 American dollars worth of spirits is probably enough to get me into bed. Spot on article.

UPDATE: No Reply has been in touch to assure us that the ESRB rating for Seduce Me is legitimate. I still can't find it on the ESRB website but a copy of the rating certificate, issued on November 23, 2012, is available in PDF format here [http://www.seducemegame.com/subm1305.pdf].
As the PDF clearly states (at the top), they've used the Automated Rating Tool. So since the game hasn't actually been rated by anyone at the ESRB, you won't find it in their database.

I think the tool was covered here on The Escapist a couple of months back.

I'm guessing it will be rates AO? M is still kind of mild compared to what they were shooting for, me thinks.
I'm okay with games like these. I'm sure there's people interested in those sort of games so...more power to them. And isn't videogames considered some sort of art? Movies can do it but videogames can't? (Actually, I'm not opening that can of worms right now).

"Pietra greets you in a steamy sauna. She's unashamedly ***** ********** and over her *********" meets the criteria."
I didn't understand that sentence at all. I don't know what that says about me. Could it be I still have a soul to be saved? Is it a sign?!

Because AO games do so well... Then again, when you're making essentially porn you don't have to be as good since people will forgive many problems so long as they... well, get their "1-up".

So an article about removing sexism from gaming is immediately followed by one about a game that would quite commonly be described as sexist.

Not that there is anything inherently wrong with it, but this almost feels like an advertisement for it seeing as the price, content and link are included.
This is true. Pretty much free advertising for them. But I guess news is news.

There's a difference between shamelessly pandering to an exclusively male audience in a medium who's audience ISN'T exclusively male, and porn, which has always catered to all of our sexual desires, male or female.

Very little porn caters to women. Likely, because very few women spend money on it. Whether this is because of societal norms that have persisted forever or because men are simply more visual is up for debate.

That people can see what games you own and play on Steam kinda dissuades from buying through them.

In any event, if you want to check this thing out in all its non-Greenlighted glory, you may do so at seducemegame.com [www.seducemegame.com]. Fair warning: There's no sexually explicit content on the site, but your mom might not appreciate you looking at it anyway.
I admit, I was curious as to exactly what this game entailed, but you might want to fix your link. Right now it goes to "www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/www.seducemegame.com", which leads to a nice Escapist 404 happy page. I think you forgot to add http:// to the URL following the href tag.

Oh, and the game looks absolutely silly. If card games equaled seduction, you think I'd have been fighting off women when I worked as a blackjack and poker dealer.

A dating game without any tentacle rape?! those crazy westerners! what will they think of next?
Come to think of it, that would make an awesome late-game twist. Everything is going seductively normal and the BAM, tentacle rape. You'd never see that one coming.

Considering the anti-sexism article is about one of the most successful and acclaimed game makers of the current gen, and the article about the sexist game is about a game that couldn't even make it on Steam's indi program I'd say this paints a pretty good picture of where the industry is going.

This game seems like a really bad attempt at creating an erotic visual novel that widely appeals to the Western audience.
It'll be interesting to see how this goes over.

#2 - This justifies Anita Sarkeesian's entire project.

Just sayin'.
Sex games have existed since the '80s.

If this existing would have justified Sarkeesian's project, then Sarkeesian's project would have been justified all along.
Haha, yeah, just take a look at this masterpiece:

(sorta NSFW)

And this game has got Master of Adventure Games, and whodathunkit, woman, Roberta Williams on the cover. (on the far right, if you're curious)

I highly doubt she considered sex games sexist if she appeared in one herself.

I don't think that the creators even HEARD of the VN genre, these screenshots appear to be much more game-y than that. It seems more like they tried to reinvent the wheel by inventing an erotic game genre from scratch.

Bought and played the game. To no surpise, I liked the game. The writing is just right. The scenarios are interesting. "If" your curious, let me know and I'll fill you in. :p

But the puzzles are far from easy in the beginning. You can get "used" to them, but you will rarely if ever get a perfect streak.

I will say this, the game makes the men look more like a sexual object than women, so if some say that women are "objectified" in the game, they never played it. -_-
It's like those parents blaming Mass Effect 3 for the shooting.
Me me me I'm interested tell me all the games dirty secrets I want to know if it compares to the Japanese hentai games I have played those games are really out there so this game going to have to work really hard (no pun intended) if they want to compete.

Ok #1 - So THIS can get made, but an MMO about the Warhammer 40K universe cant?

I don't wanna live on this planet anymore.
So just ignore the fact that it's a Indie Game?

1. No it doesn't. I shouldn't even have to explain why.
2. The irony of you saying that with a Fate/stay night avatar is incredible large.
