seeing through walls in stealth orientated games

If the game is built so the game is still difficult even with the ability, I'm fine.

I'm ok with it so long as it is just an option. I understand that not everyone enjoys the sit and wait style of "True Stealth" but it should make sense in the game. I mean how is seeing through walls any more cheap then seeing the enemies cone of vision and location as we could in MGS and MGS2.
