You know, you can think the bullshit patching regulations by Sony and Microsoft for crap like this. With the PC, you just work on the patches, get them out and be done with it.

And they say PC gaming is dead/dieing.

=D

Suck it!*

So they're not patching a game that didn't get good reviews, had little staying power to multiplayer and aren't patching it, which would of of course gain them no money.

Why are people so mad about this?

People are still playing this game, and there were promises of patching. Did you read this thread at all?

Brilliant sega, undoubtedly the best idea you've had since the creators of sonic unleashed had a drunken meeting after having watched "american werewolf in london" for film night.

So, let's see...firstly, you put annoying androids in a game in which the shooting is designed to shoot things that are coming at you, slavering mouths wide open, instead of something that is going to take cover and shoot back. Then you completely mess up the multiplayer servers, the main attraction of the game, then you make the ranking up so incredibly slow that even the most perseverent players give up on ever earning some of the higher rewards.

And then, just when you get your proverbial together enough to fix it, you run on back to your PC buddies crying that it's JUST ALL TOO MUCH!!!

Brilliant, sega. Brilliant. Roll on gearbox's Colonial marines, then.

What a joke. I managed to get in 1 match and that took 10 freakin minutes to find. I thought the servers were dead. I find it funny close to half of the achievements are MP but they do nothing to support it. Is Sega still bitter about the Dreamcast failing? Is this our punishment? Wasn't Sonic enough?

Not clever, Sega. Not clever. You stated a few years back somewhere you were focusing on being the 'biggest games publisher in the world' but that's never going to happen if you treat your paying customers like this.

Anyway, I thought the multiplayer was fun. Guess I was in the minority.
It's funny that they gave up quickly on the Saturn, then gave up on the Dreamcast, and then they're giving up on games too.

Those are a bit sad news, I own the game on PC and I didn't know that the console version had so many issues in the multiplayer. The PC version had some of these issues, but almost all of them are now a thing of the past and is pretty much very enjoyable in multiplayer.

Shame on Sega for scrapping the patches on this underrated and (kinda) great game.

Well thats it for me...fuck you Sega and fuck you Rebellion, you're never getting another penny from me through one of your faulty products. I love AvP and will continue to play it but any and all hopes for support is gone. You lost a loyal customer, good day.

P.S Thanks for the original AvP and the Dreamcast though, I'll keep them both in memory of your former greatness.

Well, that's lame. Oh well. Wouldn't matter much to me; I'm more about the single player elements.

heh, wow. Now I'm really glad I didn't buy this game. It wasn't easy to resist, I loved AvP2 back in 2001, but this game seemed a waste of money even before this news came. And now I will never buy it anymore of course, not even for 10 euro, this kind of shit is unacceptable.

the reason is probably the Gatekeepers wanting a cut for hosting the patch.

the lack of actual servers to play AVP is still pretty lag prone and crap on the PC.

Well, the PC version HAS dedicated servers and you still get XP while playing on dedicated servers.

No, in dedicated servers no, it's not like L4D, you actually choose the server you want to play with the best ping possible, see how many people are playing and start killing to your hearts content.
