Oh boy I'm pumped for this game, I hope it's a proper disc game not a download.

And can everyone stop bitching. Did you play Sonic 4, Colours or the day levels in Unleashed. They were all REALLY good and if you say they're not you are just lying to yourself.

Even if the gameplay of some(/most) of the sonic of recent years is Terribad, if there was one reason why I liked Sonic 2006 and Unleashed let it be this;
THE MUSIC
The sonic games rarely disappoint me when it comes to their soundtrack, finding at lot of them down-load worthy.
DO NOT DISAPPOINT ME NOW SEGA.
OH GOD THE MUSIC
I agree, I have always loved the music, even going as far as to download the OCR Project Chaos remix album of Sonic 3 & Knuckles, as well as the Sonic 2 remix album, Hedgehog Heaven.

While that Sonic fan re make was pretty goddamn amazing, this still looks good. I'm going to wait until it's actually released before I get excited though.

Oh boy a new Sonic game! I get to feel like an abusive relationship victim all over again! Sonic's changed this time really... /sigh I'm part of the problem I keep giving them my money and enable them.

So let me get this straight. Fans complain about current sonic games and suggest they take it back to 2D, they do this and the first 2 games they do this with get a positive reception. Sega announces another one and the reaction is "OMG SONIC SUCKS JUST KILL IT OFF ALREADY". I just don't get the gaming community sometimes.
Agreed. I love Sonic, he's a far more intriguing character to me than Mario, and am having high hopes (but not high expectations) for this game. Although I will admit, it may be about time to lay Sonic and friends to rest...

Of course, you could say the same for Nintendo, but I think every employee and Miyamoto himself will commit ceremonial seppuku before that happens...

You know what I would have loved, Sega? I would have loved that fan remake you killed off. You know, the one that's better than most crap with Sonic you put out. So no, I don't want to play your old fashioned "new" Sonic. Die in a fire.

Yours Truly,
Eri
You know what I would have loved? For Sega to stop making Sonic games. Period. I'm fine if they want to overzealously protect their brand and deny free publicity and ideas, but for the love of god stop making Sonic Games.

Well, you know what they say. Sonic cannot be in the same game twice, for it's no longer the same game and it's no longer the same Sonic.

I never did like the old Sonic, but the new one isn't doing to well... either. Then again, for most part, I enjoyed Sonic Unleashed's running stages.

How can he be called "Old Sonic"? all they did was refine the artwork over time, it's not like he's a different colour or anything. It's exactly the same character!

They always move too fast for me to be able to even spot the differences anyway.
yeah it took me a while to see the difference between the "old" and "new" Sonics (had to pause the video lol)
it'd be a bit like spotting the differences between Master Chief in Halo 2 and 3 (really just a graphical upgrade)

Wow, 2 is more than one, so this game has to be the best Sonic ever!

Listen Sega, you just don't fucking get it do you? Nobody really cares about Sonic as a character, it was always about the gameplay. Try this, make a completely 2D traditional Sonic game, then as you play it, add 3D elements on a case by case basis when you encounter a section that would be better if it had a specific 3D element.
...You mean Sonic Colors? Because that is exactly how you would describe Sonic Colors.

Dude, don't try to make sense of it. The mentality of Sonic fans, even of those that have good reason to loathe the last ten years worth of Sonic games is a very, very hard thing to comprehend. It would take an entire team of the worlds best psychologists to understand these people.

Exactly, I've heard good things about Sonic colors, they need to make more things like Sonic colors, why are they going back to the broken gimmicks after getting a proper title out?

Since when does being able to switch between two characters-technically the same character, at that- count as a gimmick? Especially when compared to the truly terrible ideas the series has suffered from in the past- werehogs, swords, guns, vehicles, so on so forth. Not to mention the gameplay is still the same no matter who you're playing as, as the diffrent game styles were the exact problem people had with the extra characters in games like Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic 06. (Sonic 06 had a BUTTLOAD of problems regardless, but that's besides the point)

So again: what gimmick?

I'm actually kind of excited for this one, my enthusiasm for Sonic Title's has been stilted in recent years but I still hold him as my favorite character. I do actually like his new design over the old when you compair the two.

With the type of gameplay Modern Sonic has adopted I guess it's foolish to hope to play as any of his friends on the classic stages... or for that matter Modern Sonic on a Classic Stage. I get that people complain a lot about Sonic's cast of woodland critters, but so long as their gameplays aren't too divergent they make great additions to the gameplay.

I just hope Sonic Team doesn't deliver another mediocre experience. I'm anxious to hear how the game's story plays out.

Sega, *places hand on shoulder* stop trying. Please, you're just embarrassing yourself. It's over. It's been over.
Tell that to the sales figures for Sonic...Which are still good. So, we need to stop mindless parents yanking Sonic UnSHITleased off the shelf for little Timmy, who won't care that he's playing a shit game.

OT:
I still think Sonic has life in him. For every console failure, there's been a mediocre/good handheld game.

Two Sonics? Why? Just... why? Why must there always be a gimmick? Just.... just...

Leave Sonic ALONE!!!!

Seriously, though, as someone who only grew up playing the neighbor's Sonic, that first bit looked pretty sweet. I don't know about taking that and doing full 3D gameplay because it appeared a bit sporadic, but who knows...

Calling him "old Sonic" doesn't make him old Sonic, Sega. It does, however, raise expectations- after all, if you're attaching his name to it, it better deliver. You may have just shot yourself in the foot if this game is bad. Or even mediocre. Or even good.

But it's not two Sonics at once, you switch between them. Even then, there is nothing here that the series hasn't already done before. You either play as a Sonic with the classic moves that we all used in the Genesis games, or you play as a Sonic with the moves seen in Sonic Colors. They may also throw in Tails and Knuckles with their classic moves. Again, nothing we haven't already seen and loved.

Another thing that I think is important for everyone to note, even Sonic Colors has a gimmick with the powered up aliens. The difference between that gimmick and all the other ones though is that it actually felt like a natural fit for the series instead of...ugh, the fucking werehog. Two controllable Sonic's could barely be counted as a gimmick at all, and if it is a gimmick than it certainly isn't a bad one. So really, my problem isn't that people are calling this a gimmick, it's that people are treating this as a BAD gimmick. From my perspective, calling this a bad gimmick is just insane.

Besides, a Sonic game based off of time traveling has already been done. How anyone could say a "gimmick" based off of Sonic CD is a bad thing will forever be beyond me.

And yet Sonic fans are still whining like a junkyard full of broken motors. Sega, you really need stop paying attention to them, you'll never EVER satisfy them no matter what you do.
