Heh, I'll be looking very forward to this game. Yeah, I was disappointed with their... previous failures. But, with the releases of Sonic Unleashed, Sonic 4, and Sonic Colors (especially that), my faith in the company has been renewed. Personally, I loved both the 2D and 3D games - both have their own merits. Heck, I can even see where Sonic 2006 was aiming towards. The theory was "good" in a sense but, the execution was horrendous (among other things).

And yeah, the Sonic fanbase is extremely fractured. You can easily find the fighting, complaining, and whining easily (heck, even on here!). At some point, I'm wondering if people support the fangames just to attack Sega. Let Sega go on and see how they press onwards. Then again, this is just part of my opinion. As always, your mileage may vary.

Well, I missed E3 on the virtue of living half-way across the world, but I've seen gameplay videos from various outlets, and honestly, the game is looking pretty good, from what I've heard at Retro (which are the most anal group in terms of the genesis games)the Classic gameplay is fun, and from what I gathered out of the Modern City Escape gameplay, Modern (read: Unleashed) Sonic is no longer hold boost to win.

Put this on cautious optimism, I was surprised by Colors, but I was also looking forward to Sonic 2006 before it got released, though that one was rushed and so far Sonic Team has been working on this game for 2 and a half years (Dimps worked on Sonic 4 and Storybook team worked on Colors), 3 years of development when it gets released, that's a longer dev cycle than most AAA games these years.

So far there are no signs of this turning into a bad, or mediocre game, the gimmick of the week looks good, and a demo is supposed to come out this month.

More classic Sonic gameplay?!

Edit for more content: I'd honestly say I prefer classic sonic over the newer 3D stuff. Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 were fun, but I loathe almost all 3D sonic games. Wasn't a fan of Shadow the Hedgehog simply because the game cheapened Sonic 2's ending.
