I spend a lot of time lurking in the news room, catching up on my gaming news. I lurk a lot in the User Reviews as well. But I find myself not really looking at the gaming discussion much now, I don't know why; perhaps its because my heart lies with the off-topic. Though I do like me a good RP and I will join in the occasional Forum Game.

I think MGG is less than just not a valued member. How many of his reviews have just turned into arguments? It has to be well over half.
MGG is a member and i always give him the benefit of the doubt. He often betrays it but we still owe him the chance to redeem himself.

I think you just summed up most of the veterans.
Am I a veteran? I've been here for a while now and I should be Gonzo soon
Join date is more important than post-count.

But you're not a Vet, you are a valued member, but a veteran is something you need time to become, or an ungodly post-count.

MGG is a veteran but not a valued member, so you're in a good spot.
Am I a valued member? *puppy eyes*

I only go to the Featured Content section sometimes (not for the ZP threads though, watching the video is enough), Gaming Discussion and Off-topic discussions. I think I lurk more than I post.

I stay pretty much solely in Off-Topic and RP. Sometimes I'll wander over to Gaming Discussion, but more often than not I'll have seen the threads before. I've made not one post in Featured Content, depite the fact that I read the articles and watch the videos. The News Room and User Reviews are where I pop in sometimes, but posting in only a small portion of the threads I read.

Ah, but he did inadvertantly begin the Troll Smackdown RP. Now I remember that all of the nine pages were all about slaying him, the point holds less weight.

You're only a true respected member and a veteran if you start posting in the Off Topic forums more often. As people said before, after a while in the Gaming Discussion, you've seen it all and nothing really sparks interest for you.

I think I said this before, did I?

Hrm... I got my start in the User Review section, basically making it my life goal to only have reviews, or pertinent responses to reviews, as posts. Then, on my first venture to Off-Topic, I tripped over a thread called 'I Bet he's Cockney.' I haven't been the same, since.

Frankly, though, I keep myself generally to Off-Topic, taking a rare venture into RP section. I would RP more, but both threads I made there ended in obscurity and lockdown, respectively. Seems like when I get an idea, it usually turns into an elitist-fest, or a slow-and-ignorable death (not too unlike my last three relationships).

Ultimately, I'm a bit happier here in Off-Topic. People recognize me, and that's usually more than I can ask for on some forums. Although, to be fair, I almost always feel a bit left out. If it weren't for the RPers who post here, I'd have no idea who the President was, or what the deal with PR and orphans is. Instead, I have a vague understanding, and the knowledge that I'll likely be held out of the loop for a while on that. No one's fault, just a little alienating.

Ah well, whatever, I've posted my, admittedly slightly emo, $0.02. Carry on.

Even more evidence I should make that Escapist history thread. Too lazy though.

I hang out in three at the moment, and considering there's only about six or seven of them, that's not a bad number. Frankly I think there need to be a few more sections, but whatever. I can generally only handle participating on one or two forums at once. I've been at one for five years, an administrator there for three, but I only tend to have one or maybe two other steady ones I visit, and I left my last backup a while ago, so I might stick around here for more than just a few days. Truth be told I was kind of expecting some more interesting discussion here, people who actually talk intellectually about games, but now I see it's mostly just a bunch of people who like Yahtzee. Oh well.

Off topic is my domain of choice. Sure, I'll discuss games occasionally, but I mainly prefer to talk about general stuff - just like in real life.
Also, I generally don't care for a lot of huge recent / soon to be released games like Mass Effect, Spore, Gears of War 2, etc., so I often have nothing to add to conversations revolving around said games.

I tend to go around in Forum Games & RP section and Off-Topic, because the gaming forum became "Does (anything here) beat (anything here)?" and such. Oh, and News Room. There's always a funny thing in there.

I think we've just been insulted.
If you want intelligent discussion, stay away from the featured content section, stay in Off-Topic, User Reviews and Forum Games and RP.

I'm actually confined pretty much exclusively to those boards. I'm not insulting at all; I'm just saying I expected perhaps something a bit more than the typical gaming forum, where people would actually read and comment on my ridiculously long rants.

Should have prepared yourself for disappointment - hardly anyone reads "ridiculously" long rants here, and I place the aforementioned word in inverted commas, because I once posted a 2,500 word essay about computers, unironically calling it "short".
By "ridiculous" I meant in the context of what I'm actually discussing. For forum posts on relatively trivial things that nobody actually gives a shit about, they're pretty lengthy.
