I've known of people who have asked the mods to ban them. Now, I've never spoken to any of them, so I'm curious as to why they would elect for e-suicide. Can anyone help me?
No good reason at least.geldonyetich said:Because forums can be a dreadful waste of time.
Because they're trolls and want attention.
Because they have authority issues and think that getting the mods to ban them is a way of manipulating authority.
Really, there's no central reason for all people to do it.
How does that even make sense? That's like saying "Kill me!" to a murderer then thinking "I'm the boss now, I gave him a command and he's executing it!"geldonyetich said:Because they have authority issues and think that getting the mods to ban them is a way of manipulating authority.
Don't mention this! It makes me sadgeldonyetich said:Because forums can be a dreadful waste of time.
Yeah, most likely this. If a person wants to leave I suppose its better to leave with people thinking of you in a positive way, rather then for you to left on a negative note by being banned for endless trolling.pimppeter2 said:Because they no longer want to come. Its 100 Times better than 'Forum Suicide'
Which is to troll until you are banned
Three basic reasons for it:NimbleJack3 said:I've known of people who have asked the mods to ban them. Now, I've never spoken to any of them, so I'm curious as to why they would elect for e-suicide. Can anyone help me?
I think the point is that with Mod-Assisted Suicide you can PM them and ask nicely to be unbanned. I've seen a couple people do it that way, one of them was just the other day. And she, who shall not be named here, did it because of stress levels and time issues. That way you can't casually go on because you have to be willing to write up the message and wait for a reply.Fraught said:A much better way to, if you don't want to spend as much time on the Escapist as you are currently, is to change your password, and while you're typing it, go batshit crazy with the keyboard.
