Just kidding. Yeah, I wouldn't be that bothered, especially since they're likely to do that in the UK for everything if Gordon Brown gets his way (which thankfully, he won't because he'll be out of office by then). However, I can see why some people would be offended. It's a pretty stupid idea on the whole, but I wouldn't mind handing over those details provided they were kept safe, secure and 100% confidential. Unlike some people, I have nothing to hide. Provided information is secure, what's the problem with ID and so on if you have nothing to hide?
The first thing I thought was it's not too long until Britain has a system like this for everyone for everything. They are already recording everyone's license plates whenever they drive a highway.
I have nothing to hide as well, but by no means am I going to just start handing over personally identifiable information to anyone who asks. Fingerprinting is for criminals. I'm not a criminal, so you aren't getting anything from me. Thank the gods I don't live in Florida. Oh, and Gamestop sucks anyway.

Thank god it hasn't been implemented here in Britain... well, not yet at least.
I agree, woo for Britain!

I would love it if they implemented it in my home state of kentucky. After all, it'd only be an invasion of privacy if the thumb pads installed a spycam on your hand to record the number of times you wank off in a day [/sarcasm]

What a shitload of fuck..
Why are they doing this? The authorities haven't ever, and I mean ever been interested in games, the only ones who were ever interested in them are the freaking ESRB and the copyright agencies, but they just ***** and moan about pirates and little kids playing GTA. So why are the police putting thumbprint policies on games?
Hmm.... The plot thickens..

Seems uneccessary, not to mention ineffective. You can still sell games on eBay or Craigslist, and almost always get better value than the pitance GameStop expects you to bend over and take.

Good thing I don't live in Florida, for now. First they will come for the retail outlets, and people will do nothing, then they will come for the internet, and people will do nothing, then they will come for garage sales, and we will have no way to unload unwanted software.

That's incredibly stupid. Florida, you already looked like a dick, now you're acting like one.

What an idiot...like they going to shoot you. >.<
Something tells me his store gets robbed a lot.
Yeah Broward County certainly isn't exactly nicest place to live. Although I wonder if this information can be used in a court of law and possible against those trading in the games.

Can't they just use the fingerprints the police gathered from me the last time I was arrested?

Easy places to unload used goods are where you exchange stolen goods for meth.

I'm not saying it's a good or justified law, just offering a potential problem they could be trying to solve.

Consider this situation:

You have a large game collection but live in a bad neighbor hood. One night you come home to find your appertment ransacked and you collection of games and gaming systems gone. A month or two down the line you notice a lot of games you owned are turning up used at a local game stop in cases that bare familiar looking scratches and stains. Would this law not make sense to you then?

I have a friend who went through this situation with his Warhammer 40k army. The Games Store did not thumb print the culprit. He was most displeased.

As previously stated; It's a useful system to catch thieves... I have absolutely no problem with it.

I second that. But then again I can't say the used sales market fare that well in Brazil.
