Who do you think is the worst/best(?) serial killer in the world?

I think Ted Bundy is the worst, he killed 36 (some speculate 136) women in his life-time, was a necrophiliac, and everyone thought he was this charming guy.

Note: Dexter Morgan does not count, as he is fiction. neither does Hannibal Lecter.

Probably either Jeffery Dahlmer. I'm not sure how many people he killed but he was a cannible and would have sex with organs.

Second, Ed Gein. He was only convicted of 6 murders...I think, but he had all those body parts made into furniture and accesories.

Me. You just don't know it yet.
Ted Bundy or Jeffrey Dahlmer. Both are good at what they do. And kind of creepy. You know, the cannibalism and necrophiliac"ism".

Does worst mean in body count or disturbance factor? Anyways, This list has some pretty messed up maniacs.

Gotta go with Jack.
Could be due to that graphic novel 'From Hell' I dragged myself through. You don't read a graphic novel so thick you could shatter ivory with it without it making an impact on you.

John Wayne Gacy was by the the sickest son of a ***** that ever lived. He raped and killed children then buried them under his mom's house.... and not necessarily always in that order either. What's super creepy is he dressed up as a clown for kids parties.

Ed Gein was by for the most influential though. Most pshchotic serial killers in movies are based off of his exploits.

EDIT: Also that Romanian (?) noblewoman that killed her handmaidens and took baths in their blood because she thought it would make her younger was sick too.

But he's sexy fiction.

But fine.

That and he was never caught. I mean, almost all these other later serial killers got caught eventually. Jack managed to commit grisly murders and regularly taunt Scotland Yard, getting away with it all. All they ever got, in his lifetime at least, was a few fruitless leads.

So yes. Not only a psycho killer, but a professional psycho killer.

Another one, which people don't seem to know, is the Thuggee cult, a secert society of killers in 1800s India that were said to have rounded up 30,000 victims or so to sacrificially strangle for the Hindu goddess Kali, "the dark mother". Read about it here [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thuggee].

They're basically the Dark Brotherhood of Oblivion.

She was Hungarian.

To be fair, forensics basically amounted to "cast magic spells, ask compass to point to killer."
It was a lot easier back then.
That and "blame the Jews." Seriously. They pursued an lead pretty much entirely on the premise that it may have been a Jew or group of Jews behind the murders.

Well, they weren't that backward as to cast magic spells, per se; they just didn't have any forensic advantage, like DNA or prints that we have today.

Dr. H. H. Holmes. Suspected of 3-400 murders, only convicted of a few.

The Devil built himself a palace in the White City...

William Burke, he was a serial killer in the 1800's who payed prostitutes to come to his house, got them drunk, and then asphyxiated them by holding their mouth and nose shut. He then sold the corpses to medical schools for a tidy profit.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pedro_López_(serial_killer)

Pedro Lopez killed 300 little girls in Peru, Columbia, and Ecuador. He actually confessed his crimes to the police, and they didn't believe him until a flash flood uncovered the mass grave of his victims. They prosecuted him in Ecuador, and he went to jail for their maximum 20 years. He was then released and deported to Columbia, where in 2002 he killed again.

Yay justice.

Also, though not technically a serial killer,Issei Sagawa is a case study on why Japan is viewed as more than slightly fucked up. In Paris he invited a girl over for dinner, shot her, and ate her. When he was deemed insane he was placed in a French asylum. Then his father arranged for him to be put into a Japanese institution, but because of paperwork and lack of cooperation between France and Japan, he only served fifteen months there. He free, and gives TV interviews on the experiance, and how he would "like to eat another girl someday".

Yay justice.

i'm going to go with Albert Fish or Ed Gein

on a side note there is a song that lists off a bunch of serial killers

the fun thing to try is to name the killer name they go by

I'd like to have met the Zodiac killer, simply because of his guts to mail letters to the police. I mean, sure, there are other killers who spoke with the police, but none are more famous than Zodiac.

Doesn't change the fact that the dude was a sicko...

Herman goering, Joseph Goebbels and Adolf Hitler. they orchestrated the "cleansing" of the jewish people.

that's pretty F!@ked up. they win the worst award and the best goes to *drumroll* Bernhard Goetz he was the subway vigilante. but he did kill 4 people. thats mass murder.

Representing Canada up in here.

Robert Picton. He killed likely over 30 hookers, chopped them up, and fed them to his pigs. And since his farm was active, the (unproven) rumor is that he fed bits of people to guests hidden in ground pork.

Canada isn't all toques and Tim Bits.
Yikes.... a nasty killer Canadian. How will I ever get to sleep now?

Also, I was going to say Ed Gein but he only ever killed two people so I guess my pick has to be Dahmer.
