By classing "Metal" as "Music". Its not, Its just noise.

Although even i know Nickelback isnt Metal.

EDIT: Seeing as how i seem to have divided opinion with my post - Ill elaborate - I dont class screaming or throating gravelling as music.
Not all of it, but it has received a bad image. I'm not one to speak for death metal, as most of it is annoying, but there is the melodic death metal, which is good.

One thing I can say is that getting used to metal takes time. I didn't really like metal until I was 13, and until then I hated it because it didn't sound good. But adapting your ears to the distortion makes it easier to listen to. Besides, not all metal is death metal, there is metal that isn't that loud and distortioned.

A common misconception (that we've seen proof of here) is that metal is just noise. Pfft, narrow-minded people.

Another misconception is that rap is good.
Hey look! A contradiction! You wont mind if I take what you said and use it against you? You wont? Cool.

Pfft. Narrow-minded person.

Metal is the best music, ever. Just look at how many different kinds of metal there is. Folk metal, Power metal, Black Metal, Battle metal, Death Metal, Industrial Metal, Neo-Classical Metal, War Metal, Viking Metal, Goth Metal, Symphonic Metal, Doom Metal, Thrash metal, Tribal Metal, Prog Metal, Extreme Death Metal, Melodic Death Metal, Gothenburg Metal, ect. ect. ect. If you think is doesn't take talent to play it, then you have never tried. A lot of metal takes years of practice and dedication. And people that listen to metal are not forgiving, you have to be the best at your sound, or no one is going to care. You had better be unique and have a sound different from everything else in some way. Hell, I have even heard Techno Metal (Blood Stain Child).

Alright, if that's Gangster rap, then what is 'good' rap? Can you show me some examples? (I looked at the others. That's hip-hop.)
Here is an incredibly common misconception. That Rap is a genre of music and Hip-Hop is a totally different genre of music.
This is not the case.
Rap: Rap is a lyrical style commonly found in hip-hop music. It is not a genre, it is a lyrical style.

Hip-Hop: A post-colonial culture which grew out of African American culture, starting with hip-hop music, graffiti and breakdancing. In terms of music, hip-hop is a a GENRE of music.

This is not debatable. This is solid, hard fucking fact.

Anytime anyone classifies rock and pop under the same banner, a common problem for HMV over here in Blighty. They are so different that it makes my blood boil, even more so when I see a blues album in amongst the rock and pop.

Seriously, if metal gets its own little section of the store, why can't my rock music be taken as far from the pop section as possible?

Oh, also, R&B. Rhythm and BLUES you cloth headed nonces, without the blues it's just rhyth, which makes it something I could beat out when my head contacts with the wall. I don't mind you making what you claim is R&B and labelling it Hop Hop or whatever, but please, let us have the blues.

Metal is the best music, ever. Wow. Ignorant much?Just look at how many different kinds of metal there is. Folk metal, Power metal, Black Metal, Battle metal, Death Metal, Industrial Metal, Neo-Classical Metal, War Metal, Viking Metal, Goth Metal, Symphonic Metal, Doom Metal, Thrash metal, Tribal Metal, Prog Metal, Extreme Death Metal, Melodic Death Metal, Gothenburg Metal, ect. ect. ect. So there being a lot of different branches makes it the "best music, ever"? That makes less sense than that first sentence. If you think is doesn't take talent to play it, then you have never tried. Have tried, it's all literally just scales or arpeggios. Up, and then down. Rinse and repeat. A lot of metal takes years of practice and dedication. Not any more so than other genres of music -- people who play classical music typically train for 15-20 years before they can get hired anywhere. There are stories of jazz musicians practices 15 hours a day for years on end just so that they can be good enough to play the music they wanted to. And people that listen to metal are not forgiving, you have to be the best at your sound, or no one is going to care.See above. You had better be unique and have a sound different from everything else in some way. Seriously? That sounds suspiciously like pop to me.

Hell, I have even heard Techno Metal (Blood Stain Child).
So? I've heard Death Metal Jazz, and that was utter chaos and cacophony.

...I'm going to punch through your throat, rip out your vocal chords and then hand them do you. Trolls like you should go under your bridge and drink some bleach.
Reported.

Be a tough guy somewhere else.

OT: Also, how drone doom metal apparently isn't music, or sounds like someone's fridge.

If it honestly sounds like that to you, you need to get your ears checked.

People seem to think that pirate metal is not the greatest genre to have existed.

What is wrong with you people!
You mean this isn't considered the greatest song ever?
