The north east has got alot of snow, more than we have done in past years, Even in Middlesbrough (where i live) we usually get a good slush, but i was like a friggin snowman walking to my house from my mates.

I like snow though, and i would LOVE a snowball fight.

It just means that you shouldn't drive when there's ice on the roads. That's hardly mellow dramatic, it's just common sence. Quit your bitchin.

All our media are fear mongers.

It's part of British culture to over react and shut everything down when a centimetre of snow falls. I don't want that changed at all, it's funny.
You might wanna make that when the South of England gets a centimetre of snow. I said it in another thread, it's not a stab at the South of England, it's the way the news gets all worked up when there's a little snow down South when the North has had it for a few days already and managed fine.

OT: Yes, I am sick of the news reporting it this way, especially the way mentioned above.

Also to our American brothers how does the news report snowfall over there?

Nobody pays attention to it around these parts, by that I mean the news reports that snow is on the way, a few warnings are given and then after it snows there are ton of stories about how bad it was, how much ice there is and how nobody showed up for work in an "I told you so" fashion.

We ignore the snow so much nobody even bothers to plow the roads, you are lucky if they get off their asses to throw some sand down on top of the ice it all turns into after a day or so. All the stores however plow their lots, and throw salt down on the walkways, wouldn't want to cause an injury or a car accident.

Then they talk about treacherous conditions
Urgh can't they at least think of a new word that's all they ever said last time

I love Charlie Brooker, he's one of my favorite comedians and he raises some really good points.
Also yes, I wish they came up with a different word as well like Deadly, Dangeous or mildly annoying but over all alot of fun and a good laugh with your mates.
Damn, beaten to it. The fact is they do this every year! It's winter, it snows, that is precisely what is supposed to happen get over it! If something happens roughly the same time every year then it's not unussual, it's fucking ussual!

When I was a child snow was something to be anticipated and celebrated when it happened, it meant days off school, snowball fights, sledging, snowmen ect. Now for some reason all the news can associate it with is death destruction and chaos as people fucking freeze to deatttttthhhhhh! Last year every person on Britain was killed as a result of treacherous snow. Really! Well not really, but I heard some bloke say it in a pub and he was bloody convincing! Especially after my 4th pint and his 6th.

And the worst part about it all? I'm in Suffolk and we have had fuck all snow! Stop bloody rubbing it in out faces news!

England: The only country that copes better during a world war than when it snows.
Hahaha brilliant. Made me lol, thanks. So true :)

OT: Yeah I find it funny. So melodramatic for some pretty tame weather :p

I actually have a reason to stay inside on a snow day- I've just had an operation on my foot and I can't walk without crutches, which have arse-bitingly awful grip.
