Public School, Fiscally Conservative District, Socially Liberal PTSA = Circa. 1988 Sex Ed films on 8 mm.

The animation was about on par with the Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show in terms of quality and realism.

There was one kid whose mother went all biblical at a Board Meeting, spouting off quotes from Exodus and such.

Sheriff deputies had to physically remove her when she started throwing things the rest of the PTSA.

And that was the night we learned about the effects of pepper spray in a closed room... fun-fun.
People need to understand other people's point of views, and know that there's may not always be the right one. Always be open to discussion.

I once had a teacher who mentioned something about Super-Herpes. I was sincerely frightened.
Man, even regular herpes is extremely painful. Can't imagine what Super Herpes is like.

We got some basic stuff, but I'd already been told most of it from relatives who agreed with my opinion that ignorance causes more problems than knowledge.
I don't understand how people can survive in places where only abstinence is taught. It's just plain daft to my way of thinking.
It's freakin' true. The hardcore Catholic side of my family that thinks Harry Potter was written by Satan refused to even allow any of their kids to go to any kind of sex ed classes and wouldn't teach them about sex themselves in any form; just "say no to sex before marriage" without even explaining what intercourse entails. One of my younger cousins believed that angels put babies in women's stomachs-- not uteri, stomachs-- right up until she was sixteen, when she got pregnant and had no idea how it happened.
Ignorance breeds stupidity. I know first hand, as I've screwed up many times by not knowing what I'm doing.

I went to a catholic boys only (until sixth form, aged 16-18) school. We learned nothing and if we did it was:

use protection - you wont get an STD but you'll got to Hell as its not pro-creation

don't use it - you may get an STD and an unwanted baby which you can't abort because...you'll burn in Hell.

Needless to say I was very confused until people figured out what google and a high speed internet connection was really used for.
People say the internet is for porn...well certainly a lot of it is. Wikipedia is very helpful as well. I still look up STD's on there.

Our school shoved abstinence down our throats. They showed movies about people dying from AIDS and the clap and such. We had to make flash cards of things like Chlamydia and Herpes. They even handed out "Extra thick" condoms to the entire class.

They had the little tidbits in elementary school so we wouldn't freak out about wet dreams. Real sex ed in High school was ok. Mostly about STDs and that sort of thing, the teacher didn't only cover abstiinance, but he sure as hell preached it.

I was curious as to how well your school taught you about sex, and things thereof.
As for mine...it was actually quite extensive. Taught us everything we needed to know, including the act itself, and how to practice safe sex. I didn't even know they made female condoms.

Part of the reason I'm asking is that some schools preach abstintence-only programs, and no sex ed. They didn't preach abstinence in my school, thank god, and taught us things that have come in very handy, not to mention life-saving.

Oh yeah, the slide show was quite a spectacle.

So how about yours?
here's my sex education:

"you need to get circumcised or you get uncurable penis cancer!!!!!"

the MOST fucked up part wasn't that, it was her saying that the tip of the penis had no feeling so you can cut it off with no pain killers and the like... if there was no pleasure during sex, how the hell could Romans reproduce? how did the tribals reproduce before circumcision? she had no idea how the male's genitals worked but went IN DETAIL with the girls. we didn't even learn how to protect against testicular cancer while the girls got high tech shit. her idea of testing for ball cancer was to poke your nuts really fast. how the hell she got a degree to teach this shit is beyond me.
Keep her the fuck away from men everywhere. Being uncircumsized makes that area MORE sensitive, as it isn't meant to be exposed except during sex.

As long as you know the truth, I'm hoping your classmates did as well.
