it's just a game, people! who cares about these little details... do you think that bioware will start a CensorshipTeam Hah!? XD it's the complete package of ideas that count.
Right. A package which completely ignores a vast portion of human sexuality.
Erm, vast? I thought the majority of humans alive today where heterosexual?
Oh, there's a VAST portion of homosexuals in the world alright.
I didn't say anything about the proportional differences.

I don't get what the problem is.

Games are made by straight men primarily. Straight men think lesbians are hot. Straight men, while 'accepting and ''totally cool with it'' ', don't wanna look at two guys making out out/ having intercourse.

Men find women attractive, seeing two of them go at it is surely the ultimate in sexual fantasy? Without getting too freudian...

It's plain to see why this decision was made, whether you agree with it or not. Maybe it is double standards, but at the end of the day I'm not buying ME2 so I can watch 2 alien men get it on, or 2 alien women for that matter.

Get over it.

It is probably just an oversight by the makers of the game, or maybe they just couldn't be bothered, or maybe they couldn't pick a male character for male Shepard to romance because none of them seemed right for it. No matter how hard I tried I just could not get Thane to ask me out for a date ;-) lol.

It does seem a little bit like double standards putting in a homosexual female relationship possibility but not a male one. I'm sure they didn't do it to cause offence though, certainly not on purpose anyway.

Just looked at that video from youtube above - if they bothered to animate that why didn't they put it in the game?! That seems very non-sensical, to go to the trouble of making the scene and then leaving it out.

I find some of the things that people are saying on this forum to be a quite hate infused and downright offensive. "Gay sex is just sick"....? "malformed brains"....? I think you people need to find your way back to the dark ages before the rest of the bigots realise you're missing. (Thanks to Logan for the appropriate banning!)

Never understand why the subject of homosexuality seems to spark such venomous hate in some people. Hopefully they'll get over it one day!

I think you're looking too far into it. Maybe they didn't feel like it because the majority of gamers don't want to see gay men.

Well dur! Don't you realize that in the future, the gays were tired of people discriminating on them so they moved to a different universe?
I can see it coming...I think I would laugh if it happened... haha

AS much as an ignorant person so far in this topic was ignorant and offencive (no names) they did make a fair point even if it was warped by such homophobic views.

I believe in equality for everyone, i respect homosexuals and anyone who has the courage to speak out for what they believe in and who they are.

With the proverbial flame shield holding strong i will begin. I dont think your forcing your views on people but i think not including something doesnt mean they have anything against it. What it occurs to me that your logic means that if a game includes a hetero sex scene it must then have to include all the other sexualities just to make it "fair". This becomes a game of tokenism, this means that bioware would have to follow the formula of all three sexualities in the game for EVERY GAME with romance to appease everyone, and at that point it would be stale and repetitive.

What you also have to understand is that these game designers are, sadly, not the paragons of virtue that we hope they are. They. Want. Money. Im afraid that, as sellers of a product, they must do everything possible to appeal to the TARGET MARKET, of gaming males who, on the most part it HAS been proven, would rather see lesbian sex than gay. This is not an attack on homosexuals or because they are a minority, it is simply because bioware is trying to appeal to the target market. This doesnt mean they WONT include it at all (dragon age), it simpley means that popularity takes priority. Post is too long already.

Ok, here's the honest truth. Male homosexuality wouldn't work. It would not help sell the game (a lot of people like lesbian sex in games, it's not only for lesbians). As well as how would that work. Cross species is hard enough, now how are you going to find a anatomical way to have gay sex with, say, a salarian, Or Thane. Salarians have no sex drive, and how do you know that he would have all the proper "peices" to use during these scenes. Also they cut back on the actual content of the scenes as to avoid controversy, so maybe you should go complain about that as you'd have my support!

I think it's absolutely pointless to have any sex in videogames. My Shepard is, was and always will be completely asexual.

I have no time for penises and vaginas, I have galaxies to save!

There's not even any room to discuss anything. They didn't put in a gay romance. Woo hooo. Technically FemSheps romance with Liara isn't even lesbian because the Asari are mono-gendered. "Male and Female has no meaning to us." is what Liara said I believe. Something along those lines.

Isn't it strange people always mention Tali's hips when talking about her? :p

It was always her voice that was the most intriguing part, for me at least.
FINALLY someone who also likes Tali for some besides her breastess and her hipseses. I hate all the Tali fans that just go on about her hips and stuff. I mean they are nice... but COME ON!

I also like her voice by the way lol

Oh and this reminded me how absolutely retarded some mass effect fans are. There was a thread about Kasumi on the bioware forums and at least 50% of people were like "YAH omg Kasumi is so hot. She is my favorite character!!" wtf you don't even know what here personality is like.

EDIT: FUCK. I use the word like too much. I hate being american lol

After a couple Mass Effect sessions, I got to thinking about the romance options. I'm sure this has occurred to others, but still.

A female Shepard can romance both sexes. You can roleplay her as straight, gay, or somewhere in between; it's totally up to the player whom she's into. A male Shepard, on the other hand, can only romance women. Even if you WANT to play a gay ManShep, you're simply not allowed.
What females are you refering to, that female Shepard can romance with? o_O
There is an Asari or two, but they are hardly female.. Or anything really :p

Like bitching will solve it.
Some people dislike gays for a reason. Always yelling and stamping their feet when they don't get their way like spoiled children. We came so far from Pac man and pong and yet you remain unsatisfied. 10 years ago in game relationships were like teleportation. A dream. Bioware makes some of the most expansive and creative masterpieces yet you guys pick it apart like a pile of shit.

Gays want homos... blacks want black women... whites want white women.. pedos want children... wierdos want fat chicks...***** whine *****. No one got exactly what they want so why should gays? Are they better than us? If EVERYONE got their way it would be one fucked up game.

Gays discriminate THEMSELVES by thinking they always deserve more by playing victim then take without returning anything back to society. Theres a big lesson in Mass Effect that could help. Humanity wasn't very popular because they thought they deserved more and took as much power as they could without anything to show for it. It wasn't until they GAVE back to the community that they earned respect.

Gays are the humans here, grabbing as much leeway as they can and wanting more because they are victimized by everyday assholes.

Besides its not a damn dating game so who cares if you don't get a relationship? Just quit whining and play the damn game.

(Shit, I lost the Game.)

This did sort of annoy me. I wanted to be able to romance Kayden without having to play as a woman.

If they include the lesbian option...it makes no sense to not include the gay option to 'avoid media outcry' or whatever, because the lesbian option would already trigger that backlash if there was going to be any.

Well having a gay male shepard would have been better and would have not affected it that much..

dont want to be a gay male shepard, dont romance a man, pretty simple
Although I do understand that alot of people are homophobic which would have caused issues
and what with mass effect already labelled a porn/sex simulator by alot of people, it would have just caused more and more controversy

Who can you have a lesbian relationship with? Considering that the Asari are mono-gendered, i'm not so sure that you have a point.
