We have all picked up a little knowledge playing games, whether its obvious or not, we believe them to be vital to the survival or victory of our characters. So share all your tips, it can be for any game at all!

This may even induce some nostalgia too!

Ok, my hints:
In Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, it is wise to fight Nemesis whenever you can, as he drops handgun parts and ammunition. The handgun parts turn into the Hawk pistol, which sports a higher magazine count, upgraded accuracy and a little more stopping power! Fight > Flight

A fast way to excel in Fallout 2 is to make a hand to hand based character. You never need to buy ammunition and while you can buy some weapons to assist, they are not needed. Using your fists you can progress through the game relatively quick and with lots of cash to spare.

In Fallout New Vegas, get your repair skill to 90 so you can use the Jury Rigger perk. I can't say how useful this is, it saves a lot of money as you can repair high grade weapons and armor with low grade ones. Hell, you can repair the NCR Ranger Combat Helmet with Glasses!

A character with high speech is also useful, as you can avoid a lot of situations as well as finish quests more peacefully, as well as open up new quests previously unavailable.

If its not fun anymore, turn it off, not really game specific but this has stopped me from hating some games.

Play the campaign first. Always.

It tends to introduce stuff that you'll see a lot more online than offline.

Snipers rifles, etc.

Oblivion. Use Restoration magic and sell your potions.

Tips for the games I have played this month:

Minecraft: Never mine the block you are standing on.
Black Ops: Watch where you throw those grenades of yours.
Plants vs. Zombies: Always build 2 rows of sunflowers.

I can not possibly express how much this is true. 4 times I have died from breaking this rule, once from a fall and the other 3 from lava.

The trick to maxing out your attributes in Oblivion is to only have one skill from each attribute in your chosen skill set. That way, you can freely beef up the skills you use a lot without having to worry about leveling prematurely, and, when you're getting close to leveling up, you can make sure that you're getting the +5 boost on all your stats by quickly grinding something easy like acrobatics or alchemy.

I always chose skills that leveled up slowest as my specialisations, like marksmanship, restoration, etc, so it gave me the most control over when I leveled up.

Jury rigging weapons is useless. Dead money dlc gives you chips every 3 days 1100 of them, you can then spend these at a vending machine for reapir kits. about 20-40 for one. It has stimpacks, rad away, rad x, everything you need.

Fallout new vegas dead money, read the dialouge... That way you wont look like an idiot posting "why is my collar beeping, why am I trapped ? tis sucks".
But in order to get those chips, you would have to get the DLC. If you don't then Jury Rigging is very useful.

OT: In AC: Brotherhood use poison to take out groups of guards, since poisoned enemies will wildly swing their weapons (killing off their friends)

Call of Duty, any game, Veteran:
- Just because it is quiet does not mean it is clear.
- You have flashbangs for a reason.
- Friendly AI cannot be relied on.

Resident Evil 5:
- You ALWAYS have the range advantage.
- Make use of the 'Nade launcher, it has ammo for all occasions.
- Chapter 4-1 has a fuckton of treasure.

Hrmm... friendly gaming advice. Potentially useful andRelatively original, good show, Mr. OP!

Dead Rising 1: Try to get the Megabuster as soon as possible. You ought to level up a good few times getting it and nothing works better on bosses if I'm not mistaken.

Dead Rising 2: The driller (spear + power drill, both items avialable in the Royal flush plaza maintenance room near the orange car) seems more effective than the defiler (sledgehammer + fireaxe) for most bosses, trading speed for power (not much less power, mind) and staggering your foe, allowing you to press the attack and cut your orange juice (or wine, if you have the drinking book) intake considerably.
The fastest way to make money seems to be find the 3 gambling books (2 are in bookstores, one is in the silver strip casino with the big red car) and use the "bet max" option on the giant slot machine in Slot ranch. (near the hall leading to the food court) You can literally earn millions in 10-15 minutes.

Fallout 3: Make intelligence your best stat, raise it to 9 from the start. (leaves 1 point for the bobblehead, of course) You get so many skillpoints, you can have around 4 skills at 100 by lvl 16 or so. With my most recent character, I ran out of things I needed to improve at lvl 19, the next 11 ("continue the game" DLC, hurrah for GOTY editions) will be spent making myself ridiculously talented at things I seldom use.
Feel free to make charisma a dump stat, it's not particularly useful outside of bargaining. In most cases, I find the shopkeep is lucky to have any money left by the time I'm done trading due to the sheer amount of crap a successful adventurer brings in, Sure, you get ripped off, but what were you going to do with all the caps you might (and probably will anyway) have left over?
In the weird virtual reality you go to in the story, you can just walk to the abandoned house and shut the ************ down by touching objects in sequence to make the command console appear, ording the chinese invasion and freeing yourself. It may take a few tries, but it's probably faster than following the plot rails.

Force unleashed 1: Few things seem more effective on humanoid (grabbable) bosses than well applied physics. The old grab'n throw worked better than most anything else on pretty much every boss even on the hardest difficulty.

Oblivion: At lvl 10, you can get the skeleton key at Nocturnal's shrine (you'll have to google the location, sorry) after an easy fetchquest. It essentially skullfucks lockpicking by raising your skill 40 points and never breaking, just mash auto-open.

Naughty Bear: Driving the teddies insane nets more points than going arouind slaughtering everyone. Go nuts, they will too.

Saint's Row 2: If you're the kind of person that has some grudge against single-player cheating, but can't get past the occasional frustrating mission, I'd advise doing the downtown (ironically located on the northern part of the island) "Snatch" missions to unlock ubsurdly fast firing uzis at lvl 3 and infinite ammo for them at lvl 6.

Dragon Age: Coercion proves pretty useful, I think, no harm maxing it out. (unless you're a warrior and need those points for combat training)

Minecraft: Go into options and set the difficulty to peaceful. There, now you can focus on your square-y masterpiece in peace and forever give Creepers the finger.

Fable 3: Start a corrupt real estate empire as early as possible, then you can easily fund an army to protect the people while making all the popular choices on the throne. Oddly enough, the people of Albion take little notice of a corrupt landlord, you can even go back and set rent for nearly everywhere to 0 afterward.

EDIT: Not game advice, per se, but if you have a steam account, "Alien Swarm" is a free game. It's a bit like left 4 dead, but with classes. (leader, medic, gunman, tech) Might be worth a look.

Well for PC and PS3 users, its very useful seeing as they do not have Dead Money yet. Also, Jury Rigging is incredibly handy for those who raid buildings or outposts, as they can repair any of their items using those on the ground or on their foes. While I admit Jury Rigging has a few problems (I accidently repaired a cowboy repeater with a fully upgraded hunting shotgun) but for me there is nothing more satisfying than hearing the click sound when you fix something.

Oh and as for reading the dialogue, good hint. A lot of people just spam X/A/Enter when talking to people in most games, it helps to take it slow and watch and read everything.

Thank you. I thought of the idea when I was playing Resident Evil Zero last night. I went up an elevator and was face fucked by some cockroaches, then I thought, I wish someone told me that would happen.

Heres some more tiperoonies!
Tekken 4 - Pressing Triangle while hovering your cursor over Christie will turn her into Eddie, one of the original (and best) Tekken characters.

Grand Theft Auto IV - Dont use cheats. The game is more fun without them and is quite easy as well.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - If you wish to level up your character very early select Alchemy as a skill. Then simply use the scroll duplication glitch on two basic ingredients. Simply make lots of potions and you will level up very quickly.

The Sims 3 - Learning the guitar skill can turn into a very profitable career. Simply travel to the Theatre in town and busk outside. A large crowd will form and you can make up to $400 a day. It also increases your social and possible friendships.

Killing Floor - If you are having trouble leveling your classes, create a game and use the 'Clot Buster' mutator. It turns the first 5 waves into pure clots, easy kills and can be quite amusing. A bit of a warning, after wave 5 you will see a lot of gorefasts and the other monsters. They seem to be in high numbers but you should have enough money for the best weapons.

Playstation Misc. Tip - If you want to chase down some of those elusive Platinum trophies, simply buy Single Player games. Games with Multiplayer can make it difficult, especially if the games online community is low due to sequels.

Playstation Misc. Tip - Some versions of the Playstation 3 have the option to remove the hard drive from a panel, removing the need to upgrade the console. Simply back your saves up to an external hard drive, purchase a new hard drive (Be sure to check the specs to make sure it is compatible and the right size) then simply stick it in and restore your saves. Go from a small 60gb to 750gb in a day!

Im sure I will think of more later..

In Vanquish....never..slow...down If you slow down, you will get rushed and easily killed. The enemy AI is amazing, using cover and even running up and hitting you if your not fully in cover.

In Splatterhouse (2010) don't overuse beserker mode once you get it. Save it for the fights where the wave of enemies come and crowd you, i.e when your fighting mirror images of Rick. Don't be a addict of the mode ether. Not every fight has to be won using beserker.

Also, I wouldn't call this a hint, but if you wanna know the backstory more pay attention to what the Terror mask says and to the gramophones.

Trying to keep this alive.

Resident Evil 5 - Fully upgrading a gun lets you buy unlimited ammo for that weapon. This will drastically increase your finish time if you are trying to master Professional mode.

Resident Evil 5: Lost In Nightmares
When fighting Wesker try not to shoot more than one bullet at a time. Shoot at him then evade his charge, then attack him using the QTE. Its slower but its safe. Also I think doing this unlocks a Trophy.

SWAT 4:
1) Use Door wedges to stop guys getting behind you.

2) Open all the doors you see. Bank robbers and Psycho Militia men may be criminals, but they have good manners and often close doors behind them. If a guy runs off you can see where he went to by the closed doors.

3) Your squad mates throw like little girls, and throw a grenade about 2 feet into a room, and often into the door they just opened. Take account of this so turn around if they're using a flashbang, find cover if it's a stinger, and plan for reduced coverage if it's a gas grenade.

4) FMJ rounds are more likely to incapacitate a suspect then standard rounds. Wounding rather than killing a suspect means more points. Watch out for penetration though as an FMJ round caan go through an unarmoured suspect and hit a hostage behind.

5)You can still is C2 on a door that isn't locked. If a suspect is near a door and is likely to shoot the second you open it setting off a charge can take him down without risk of "Improper use of force".

6) The Less Lethal Shotgun isn't as useless as you think. As long as you have buddies nearby with real guns to cover your back you can actually get a higher score. Though on the later levels you're best just to go in heavy as those guys don't mess about.

In Empire: Total war, always make founding a colony top priority.

In Left 4 Dead 2, Always stay with the group. ALWAYS!

In Life, Go to college.

In nearly all games, never bring a knife to a gunfight.

There's my two cents.

In Resident Evil 4, instantly sell the Punisher. Get the Blacktail or Red 9 ASAP.

In all FPS's - USE THE LEAN BUTTON FOR GODS SAKE.

Starcraft - Making hoards of units usually doesn't work...

...usually...

...kekekeke...
