Not really sure, as I usually seem to end up seeing older women. The last women I was with was ten years older than me (32). My housemate whose 24 was/is seeing an 18, who is still in High-school. Oh boy have we given him shit about it. "Woah what are you doing here, isn't it a school night?" The best moment was when she road up to the house on a skateboard, with a cap on backwards in her catholic school girl outfit, we almost lost our shit.

For me personally, I don't date anyone more than 4 years older and 4 years younger. Keeps things simple. But the formula thing that everyone is talking about isn't too bad an idea.

I'm 41. Personally, I'd think anyone below 30 is probably too young for me. We'd be doing just fine and then I'd get a question like "who are the Eagles" and I'd be all "jesus christ, where's my fucking geritol?"

I think there's kind of an inverse curve on this, though. When I was 20, I would have thought nothing of being in a relationship with a 40+ year old (and was in a couple, actually). "Hey man, age is just a number!" The older you get, the harder that is to justify IMO.

I'm a 19 year old guy and I honestly get weirded out by anything lower than 17, and even then that's pushing it in my opinion. For dating older? sure if they were interesting etc. I can't really see myself dating anyone over 22...although that might just relate to the fact that I think that no girl above that age would actually be looking for a relationship with a 19 year old haha

I'm a little surprised no one said anything about grassy fields. But seriously, next Tuesday I'll be 32 and I think the absolute youngest I'd be comfortable with would be 20. Although, if I follow in my dad's footsteps I'll find a nice 19 year old to marry.

Age is just a number, it's the maturity that counts. I've only ever dated above my age (not by much) cuz I find the women at my age too childish. I'm 17 at the moment, and would have no problem dating around maybe 15, but that's pushing it.

AT my age, 16, two years either way up till about 18, after that three years, once both over 25, go nuts... but don't complain if they are dead tomorrow from drinking too much prune juice.

I turned 16 this year, and my girlfriend is turning 16 this year, same grade so I know We are safe :D

Well I started with women when I was 12.

Lost my virginity to a 16 year old and never .. EVER .. been with a women younger than me. Older women all the way.

The only problem with that now is if me and my wife were to split, the only place I could possibly get a date is in a Bingo hall.

Now, I have 4 daughters. One of them is 18, her fella is 19. We haven't met him because she's scared i'll frighten him off .... and she's right.

My other daughters range from 7 to 13 and if any of them come home with a bloke a lot older than them or I found out that a bloke a lot older than them had been hanging around them then violence would ensue.

For example. An 18 year old lad around my 13 year old daughter = broken face for 18 year old lad.

Fuck age. As long as no legal boundries are broken, there should be no problem with going out with anyone of any age if you want to go out with them and vice versa.

It's strange how the older you get, the less anybody cares.
Pretty much this, and the explanation is simple really.

It's about life experience. Somewhere past 18 everyone is considered adult and skilled at life issues and capable of making choices. AND most importantly, see the consequences in conjuncture with socially acceptable morals and laws.
Someone with the age of 12 isn't considered as wise as an 18year old.

Just stopping by to say, that formula bullshit is the stupidest fucking thing I've ever heard. Such things should be decided on a case-by-case basis, and maturity should count more than age.

EDIT: Also, that XKCD is hilarious.
It's a general rule of thumb for social acceptance of the relationship. It has nothing to do with whether each person is ready for the relationship, but more if society will see it as weird or not.
It's an internet meme that only means something to a few internet geeks. The rest of society has never heard of that rule.
Incorrect. I first heard it from my girlfriend. She doesn't read XKCD. I'm the only person she knows who does.

She heard it from her mum, who is equally disassociated from XKCD, webcomics and internet culture in general.

It's a real thing, people actually use it; and have done for longer than that comic's been around I'd wager.

You know , in China , "Too Young" is just a name. I'm sorry I couldn't help it.

If you're over 18, do whatever you want. If not, do whatever you want, just don't get married or have kids, that's some sick shit.

I've found my range getting wider. When I was a teenager I wasn't interested in anyone under 30 or so. The first guy I got physical with was 36 at the time. Then I kind of expanded it down to 25 when I turned 25 myself, not suddenly but gradually, but 25 is pretty much when I started considering guys who were only my age, and now I'm finding myself sometimes considering guys who are even younger than me (although that's pretty rare).

The maximum has remained constant at 35-40 though, but I expect it to grow too as I get older.

Anyways, I don't think there is a hard set rule about too young or too old. I would have been pretty annoyed when I was younger if people I was interested in kept turning me down because I was younger than their age divided by two plus seven. That would pretty much have meant dating none of the guys I have been with except for my current partner.

The formula is a little tough on older women isn't it?

And younger women.

I tend to go out with the woman I care for, and that cares for me. Sod age.

I'm 19, I generally prefer girls my own age I'd only really go as young as an 18 year old.

Although it will probably stay 18 until I'm nearly 50 lol.
