Should "Cracker" be a racial slur?

I know it is intended to be a racial slur, but it doesn't work very well. It's really hard to make a racist remark against white people as a whole, because their whole history (at least in America) has been subjecting everyone else to racial slurs, and then letting them into the fold when some new race is readily available to hate.

Meh, given that white people have a good 500 years' history of oppressing everybody that isn't white, I think we can take it on the chin for a little while.

Look up what the North Africans did before you talk crap about the whites like they were the only victimizers.Over 1.5 million Europeans enslaved- many women forced into harems- no racce seems immune to cruelty so don't be racist and just blame the whites.


As it is used to refer to a person cracker is definitely a slur; so is "Casper." Anyone that uses them should experience the same consequences as anyone uttering any other racial slur.
Personally I don't think any speech should be limited but if one word is limited because it offends one group then any similar words for other groups should be limited as well.

I was the only white kid in my neighbourhood in D.C. for a few months. Every race is racist and it sucks to be the odd man out. That's why I have no sympathy for any race in general but have total sympathy for individuals in the specific that suffer racism- no race is innocent of racism.
It is not any more ok to use racial slurs on whites than it is on any other race.

At what point can we be equal? It wasn't actually the us of now that had anything to do with it. Honestly, if you want to go back into my family history a major part of it is Cherokee.
