I have some spare money and i was wondering if you guys thought that Crackdown 2 was worth the 59.99 it costs right now. I liked the first one, running around the city collection orbs was fun and all, but the story missions were really damn hard to me. So, what are your thoughts on Crackdown 2?

I would say NO. It has done nothing but frustrate me. You will spend all your time trying to figure out the stupid puzzles of how to get to the roof of this building. And when you finally do get to where you need to be it only gets worse. You fight the same guys protecting the same thing or fight the same guys until the game decides you have killed enough. Co op could make it fun if you find 3 other fun people.

Oh and your boss does not shut up. He even pats you on the back for getting achievements.

Going down the checklist, since you already liked the first game...

Is this the only newly released game you're considering buying this month?

Will you be utilizing the online co-op, and have a few friends you would want to join up with?

Are you okay with a good amount of repetition in missions?

If you answered no to any of the above questions, I would seriously recommend you rent it for a short time before you buy it, or not buy it at all. The co-op is really the only thing that redeems this slightly disappointing game for me.

I've only read the Game Informer review of Crackdown 2 so I don't have any hands on info about the game, but from the review I'd say no.
According to the review, they basically took the first Crackdown with only a few changes. They replaced the colorful gangs with mutant zombie creatures, threw in maybe one or two new weapons and added a handful of new abilities (apparently only available once your attributes are maxed out). Again, I haven't played the game myself (and I really didn't enjoy the original Crackdown) so this is just second hand information/opinion.
You'd probably be better off passing on Crackdown 2 and spend the $60 on a different game, pizza or porn (whichever one you like more)

Yes. Buy it. I have not had this much entertainment in a game in a long time. I think the zombies are the best part. TO imagine the numbers you fight, think of in a zombie movie, or in Dead Rising when you or the main characters look out from their stronghold to see the hordes coming towards them. You basically get to fight in the middle of it.

I fucking love it, so I would say yes.

I say yes. It gets repetitive, like the first game, but it's a good third-person, free roam. I enjoy it a lot, and it's fun to mess about with friends. Plus you can get a rubber duck with a nuke in it. If that's not a reason to buy it, you aren't human.

Crackdown 2 is a lot of fun... for a time. The missions are very repetetive, but with a lot of action. The freaks/zombies are totally awesome. As soon as it is night, you suddendly are in the middle of Dawn of the Dead. The general atmosphere of the game is great. But I would only really recommend spending money on it if you have friends on xbox live with whom you can play the game. A mic is a must in my opinion, since Ruffian games in their endless wisdom have decided to not include any form of communication in the coop - coordination is a mess, unless you have a mic. If you just want something to blow up shit and mess around, go buy it.

If you liked the first one you'll love the second...

You should wait a while for the price to go down...

Crackdown (1+2) is a 'make your own fun' game. All the people bitching about lack of story or mission structure don't get it. The people going in to it expecting GTA won't get it. It's not about blitzing through the 'story'. It's about making your own fun. Causing your own havoc. I've spent over an hour toying with Cell and Freaks, finding creative ways to kill them (and myself) just for the hell of it. Collecting the orbs is the 'crack' in crackdown. Once you get a taste of it, you won't be able to put it down, especially since you can track your progress now. But why are the orbs so much fun? It's about exploration and finding creative ways to scale the city and discovering all the little nooks and crannies. Just don't go into it expecting the game to take itself seriously. It never does.

And all you nay-sayers downplaying the Agency Handler, that guy is what MAKES Crackdown. He's awesome.

If you liked the first one, you'll probably enjoy the second.

Some new things about the second that I really enjoyed:

4 player co-op - I really wouldn't recommend this game as a single player activity. Yes, it is one of those games. But with at least one friend to play with, it's a blast.

Zombies - at first I was like, "Zombies? Really?" But then, when I got in my car and started running over zombies by the hundreds, I understood and said, "Yeah, zombies!" Crackdown was obviously missing its zombie filler.

New abilities - I love the gliding thing. It's kind of awesome.

New Cars - I love the SUV. It's kind of awesome.

Some things people might not like:

Repetition - there are like 3 kinds of missions. And you do them many, many times. But, this makes it much easier to jump into a friend's game without missing a beat.

Single player is not so fun - I mentioned this above, but it's important enough to mention twice.

Graphics - they are not really better. Considering the length of time between these two titles, they should be.

The missed opportunity - The Quacker grenades don't explode with feathers.

From what I've seen and heard, no.

Apparently it's more of an expansion pack, and doesn't really bring anything new to the table.

After playing the demo, and seeing that the 'protect this orb thingy while 2 million zombies attack it' missions which you get are near impossible on single-player, I'd say no.

Am I the only person that's finds them fairly easy? It could just be the demo, but in the full game, I've got zombies throwing acid, and pairs of 20 foot tall giant zombies attacking it, with the normal hordes slowing me down, and I'm still managing fine on single player on 'tough' (normal) difficulty.

They're not that hard. They become really easy when you level up strength and get the Ground Pounding ability.

I've been loving it single player so far myself, can't wait till I get online and see one of you guys to team up with.

Having spent 30+ hours on the first game, I am a little dissapointed with the lack of mission variety and structure. There was more sense of progression in Crackdown 1 as you worked your way up the crime food chain.

Other than that, I absolutely love it. The most fun, colourful, OTT sandbox I've ever been in, and orb collecting is still utterly addictive.

Its a good game, but its very very similar with the first Crackdown. The multiplayer is a good concept and can be a little fun but nothing spectacular. I'd say it would be a perfect choice if you and a few friends play it together.
